Really terrible. Fragging is always one step behind. You get fragged first bcos of the lousy connection. :(

Here I am talking about connection to US game server. New Zealanders and Australians have lower ping and faster connection. They are using ADSL2 and is definitely faster than our local fibre. We have high latency to overseas websites. Unfortunately, majority of contents come from overseas. In terms of downloading, there is no issue. Gaming is a problem as the connection from Singapore to USA has minimum ping about 187 ms. On top of that, the international bandwith is not fast. There is a significant disadvantage in gaming. There is a need to increase the international bandwith.

think you got the wrong cso. try again and this time try to get to the fiber menu on the voice menu, think you will get a better answer.
Anyone here on Singnet Fibre plan w Mio Sports pack? Called up ST CSO yest to enquire possibility of having Mio Sports via fibre instead of phone line but to my shock, they say u will still need to have a phone line and phone jack near the ON box.

Anyone can shed on this and how the connection will be? I actually kind of asked the CSO why is the purpose of having a telephone line if fibre can already can carry the data needed for the mio Tv box and I was told, 'Sir, for all Fibre plans, u need phone line!' :*(

oic, thanks guys for replying ....mmmm..i did play online games thru ps3
my only concern is that when i am downloading stuff , my wife's iMac (which is connected thru wifi) will experience low connection. i wonder if i upgrade to fibre , will it increase the bandwidth and allow her to have better connection?..

Hi guys, i understand that for singnet fiber installation, they provide cabling to the 1st desktop. Is drilling provided? Or they just simply lay cables only?

hi, guys, need to link up 2 pc in 2 different rooms but don't want to pay extra.

=> the ont or OJT and settop box will be at the hall where the TV is, the promoter told me to fix the modem in master room where my notebook is so i can connect myself, then have them run the cable from the modem to another room with another pc {which is considered the 1st pc), and also to run from the modem back to the settop box at the hall. will this work?

can the settop box be far away from the modem? is the gateway the modem?

thanks.

another question.

my tv cabinet is made of wood , will singnet tech bring with them plastic trunking with double sided tape. cause i don't want nail marks on my wooden tv cabinet. or do i have to purchase them myself.

how thick is the cable from the ont to the modem, from the modem to the pc? will the smallest size trunking do?

settop box for miotv can be as far as you like. link with cate5e cable.

gateway = the 2wire modem that they provide.

singtel provide 2 cat5e cable
1 to your 1st pc
1 to the stb

The ONT(modem), the modemRouter(RG) and the STB are 3 different equipments

The ONT must always be within the range of the termination point/TP, as the supplied fiber cable is abt 1.5m only.

The RG can be placed anywhere you like as long as it can be linked by an ethernet cable of maximum length 99m from the ONT.

The STB must be connected to the RG, not the ONT. Similarly, it is linked by ethernet cable of up to 99m.

Most contractors nowadays bring double-sided PVC trunking as it is faster job, but some might still use nails. Check before install

was planning to sign up for singtel fibre at this roadshow but i missed out on the opennet free installation... this promoter told me he can help waive off the opennet charge or give me 6 months free subscription for new singnet users...

but here comes the problem... he told me that miotv has to be wired to the RG which is rather inconvenient as i would like to watch soccer in my bedroom but he say the fibre point usually installed in the living room as there is this 15m limit for some wire

so my question is, is it possible to have miotv on some wireless device? and can also tell me what is the device called and where i can purchase it?

There is.
However, such use is not recognized nor will it be handled by the installer.
