bought an Asus UX31 basic config. intel i5 with 128gb SSD. $1498 at Best Denki. This one quite standard retail price currently. Didnt find any special promos. Oh yeah, hard disk is from ADATA not Sandisk. :)
Verdict. Exceptional laptop. Good build quality. But, need alot alot of software update (and software removal) out of the box to get it running optimally.

Is the trackpad sentellic or elantech?

yar, i sorta did, but was just hoping for the best. been waiting for someone to get the perfect combi of adata+elantech.

At least here our 128gb is Adata. Now over at US Europe some Scandisk 128gb are surfacing.

Dun know why after I rerun the WEI my graphics score went down to 5.5

Just purchased the 128 GB, and received the Sandisk SSD with the ELAN touchpad. I'm a bit concerned with not receiving the ADATA SSD, and considering returning it, but I was wondering if the difference between Sandisk and ADATA would be noticeable and/or significant with everyday usage? Typically I only use MS office programs and statistical software.

ohmy, the elusive ELAN trackpad; pray tell, where did you get it from?

moreover, a lot of places now claim they dont have stock!

re: frozeout - I know, I couldn't locate one for awhile. Went to CompUSA for a shot in the dark, and they had one so I snatched it up.

re: anhyeuem - Hm, seems negligible, though I'm not sure what a substantial difference would be. I'm trying to figure out if, for my usage, the performance difference between ADATA and Sandisk is substantial enough to pay the restocking fee ($150 or so) and try to locate one with ADATA SSD.

oh, so you bought it online? chey, momentarily i thought one of the local retailers has it. but honestly i haven tried a ELAN, so cant vouch for how much better it is compared to a SENTELLIC.

i remember hearing one guy who got the ADATA and ELAN UX31 128gb. but it was bought online from somewhere, so i dont know. i am always a bit cynical about online retailers.

They have retail locations in some states. The store I purchased it from is in Orlando, FL. To my knowledge, $1099 is a fairly typical price for the 128 GB 13.3".

noticed something strange with my screen. Its set at 30% brightness and on balanced power.

when i go from a dark page, internet wise, to a page mostly with whites, for the 1~2 secs, the white page loads with dimmer output, then it will brighten up to my 30% brightness.

anyone encountered?

i know this might sound obvious, but have you tried another browser? because the way you describe it, it seems like the problem lies with the browser and not the comp.
