Hmm, the pricelist is not available yet?

i have the full price list on excel. Actually if you look at the psf for the 1130 sq ft one, a mid floor pool facing unit is about 795 psf, not too shabby actually.

but too bad i'm not willing to exceed my budget for it.

this thread is really funny, from a discussion on the sun's effect on the penthouse to whether young singaporeans can afford it or not.

i think we should discuss instead whether there will be a queue outside the showflat when the second timers' become eligible to buy. After all, aren't they the ones with ammo after making crazy profits from their hdb?

then we can really see if this project will fail or not.
no true lei, a lot of penthouses were also snapped up by first timers on the first day :D

What? Forcing them to sell? Wow. That's very heavy stuff.

If you are going by this mindset, then we are not discussing about the same thing. There is nothing wrong if the parents and children choose to stay together. Whether the parent want to sell their HDB, or rent it out is up to their own preference and choice.

However, the way you come forth with your argument is as if all the children who want to stay with their parents has a hidden agenda and the parents will end up as big suckers.

There is indeed very SAD if that's only what you can think of. Very SAD indeed.
let me just quote you and take it that you do not realise what you posted earlier :o

QUOTE=Avg_Joe;64098336]Yes. You can see many young couples at the show-flat with their parents. Most likely they will buy the EC with the support from the parents (5% cash and partial cash for the remaining 15%).

Once the EC is near completion, then the parents will sell off their present HDB and move in with them.

With cash from the parent's HDB sale, some of the money can be used to offset the loan during refinancing. The money will also come handy to supplement the monthly installment and for furnishing too. Definitely will also have some portion left to act as buffer.

Not a bad planning at all for those in similar situation as above.[/QUOTE]

Oh well. I can see this coming :s13:

When and where did I give you the impression all this was 'FORCED'? Only from your TWISTED mind. Yes, twisted, and I do not have to enlarge the fonts further.

The scenario given is a mutual arrangement between the parents and the children. Not through some devious scheme the children came up with to 'cheat' the parents' HDB and the sales proceed.

What makes you think the child cannot afford the EC on his own? Why can't it be due to the parent's suggestion to get a bigger unit instead so that they can live together?

You are really pathetic.

From such a simple given scenario where 2 generation can stay under one roof, and done with the parent's blessing, it can lead to such drama.

Maybe you are really one who is desperately trying to scam your parent's money .. and got defensive cos you though I am talking about you. Ouch!

However, what is on your mind do not necessarily means everyone will have the same mindset.

Thus please stop making a fool of yourself.

From your replies, one can clearly see your replies is malicious (or childish too) in nature, and not constructive as seem from some other forummer's comments.

But have to admit. Must give you some credit, for it does create some comic relief from all these serious chats about high EC prices etc etc :s13:

I know, i was there what and I bought a unit there as a first timer.

What i'm trying to say is, its not anyone's right to say how they should have bought the unit as first timers. Who knows, maybe they win 4D? Toto? Or earn from stock market like me?

Could be anyone's guess. Why bother when they buy the unit with their eyes wide open?:)

agree, i have no qualms about how people can afford to buy anything...even if they rob and steal or force parents to sell their hdb flat ;)

but seriously, i recommend buying within one's means and don't begrudge anyone else what they can afford.

i think you made the right move buying a ph since you can afford it. i would buy one too if given the chance

haha, you can go sell roti prata with your constant flipping ;)

bottom line, since you can well afford the EC as you put it, stop eying your parents money and ask, persuade, psycho etc them about selling their roof over their heads to fund you. if you take their money, will you put in their names as rightful owners of the EC too? you and i both know your answer to that :D

as other forumers have suggested, the solution is to rent out parents' hdb flats to help fund if they so wish. you are the only one advocating selling parents hdb flat, whether forced or not. the fact that you already think of this is obvious to all.

hope you are unique and not average. if the average joes all think like you, a lot of poor elderly parents will be without a roof to their name

Oh really?

You think you speak for us all?

"bottom line, since you can well afford the EC as you put it, stop eying your parents money and ask, persuade, psycho etc them about selling their roof over their heads to fund you. if you take their money, will you put in their names as rightful owners of the EC too? you and i both know your answer to that"

From the start, all the scenarios you mentioned above about coercion and forcing the parents to sell their flats are all a figment of your own imagination.

"as other forumers have suggested, the solution is to rent out parents' hdb flats to help fund if they so wish. you are the only one advocating selling parents hdb flat, whether forced or not. the fact that you already think of this is obvious to all".

Wow. Like that also can? You just implied something and assumed that the person think like that? A case of Ass you and me? Please, be my guest and just Ass yourself.

Please read again. When I wrote that, I never even say it is my own situation. But you keep biting at it like a mad dog.

Oh about the roti prata thingy, the last time I checked, my monthly pay slip (and definitely high enough to afford an EC) is comfortable enough for me not to take up a side-line job as a roti prata man.

If you like to flip roti prata yourself, you can maybe try for the new EC at Fernvale (that is if you can afford it in the first place). Quite near to Jalan Kayu. Very convenient for you to go to work ;)

Get real. Can see you are pissed cos I make you sound like a vengeful fool.

I am having so much fun :)

wot, self palmed some more

cannot stand on your own 2 feet? need to try to drag in others? somehow this is not surprising coming from the ONLY guy here who wants his parents to sell their hdb flat to fund his EC :s8:

lack of self confidence and feel the need to proclaim "my monthly pay slip (and definitely high enough to afford an EC ) is comfortable enough for me"...

first time i see someone claim his pay is high enough to afford EC. starting to feel inferior now that

what would be nice would be to get your parents to announce here that you did not coerce them to sell their flat and that they willingly give up their only asset to move in with you but the EC belongs 100% to yourself :D

i think if compare ability to afford EC, you are still a long way off, but you are good at taking shortcuts by eying your parents hard earned asset...pity your parents ;)

You are making a fool of yourself again.

This is what I wrote earlier:

"Yes. You can see many young couples at the show-flat with their parents. Most likely they will buy the EC with the support from the parents (5% cash and partial cash for the remaining 15%).

Once the EC is near completion, then the parents will sell off their present HDB and move in with them.

Let me know if you need my help to explain or decipher what I wrote above.

Where in the above statement did I mentioned I am the one asking my parents to sell their flat to fund my EC? Even if you want to blast your mouth off, at least get your facts right.

I am a 2nd timer myself, which you can see from my earlier post back in 2010 (the thread is still available) with regard to getting a 2nd BTO from HDB.

The above scenario is something I believed is common amongst 1st timer, whose parents do not mind selling their flat to stay with their children, and also helping them at the same time.

There is nothing wrong if it is a mutual decision between the parent and children.

Your narrow-mindedness definitely shows when you come out with so many damning ways a child is trying to 'cheat' his parent's sales proceed from their flat.

Even for those whose parents rented out their flat and use the money to pay for the EC's installment is somehow helping their children, it is just another way for the parents to help their children thats all. And they will also be staying in the so called 'miserable' room you said earlier when they rent out their flat.

There is no right or wrong, just the right planning which suits them better.

Just because you are not happy about it doesn't mean it is not happening. Everyone have their own planning, and just because you do not agree with them means you can just come in and insult everyone doing it.

I am giving you a chance to debunk what I mentioned above.

And oh yes, this time round do have more class and admit it if you are wrong ya :D

let's stop this nonsense, enough discussion about this laio.

anyway 4th march is first come first serve. ie: 2nd timers can prepare their camping tools and night supper, if the units they want are still available.

Yes nonsense indeed.

After going through such a big round, he is still not aware I am not a 1st timer and I am not talking about myself all this while. So whatever he is shooting off from his mouth is not relevant to me. Kinda make it more comical that's all :s8:

Anyway, that time I went to see the Rainforest, and the agent who attended to me that time called me today to say there is an abortive sale for a 4 BR Compact.

And she told me if I am interested, I have to go down with my cheque for a balloting exercise tomorrow just for that one unit.

Should just make it first come first serve if that's the case, make it easier for the one with the fastest finger (to write the cheque!) :D

Try not judge other based on your perceptive too.

I too was sceptical about things like family bond, but then I can clearly see the concept being carry out in my gf family who is deeply root in chinese tradition.

In chinese culture, there is nothing wrong with parents helping the kids to get them off their feet and the kids working to support the parents in old age. It is just that we have been influenced too much by the western thinking, after 18 the parents and kids has nothing to do with each other anymore.

Hi guys, how is the queue system going to be like on march 4? Do they allow just about any eligible second timer to join the queue or they will only allow people who have signed up for e application earlier to be ahead of the queue? Thanks.

It is best to do the e application earlier so you don't cock up when you select your unit.Eligiblity wise, I believe anyone can just queue up. We didn't fill up the docs and ran into some trouble initially when we selected our unit.

Good stacks left, pool facing are 4 (3+U) , 10 and 19 (4 bedder)

If you want a good agent, I can introduce my orange tee co-broke agent, he is extremely responsible and didn't pressure us to take any unit. Highly recommended.
