Novo 7 Essential Clean ROM v0.5 for Aurora

Just my humble opinion after using the latest Essential Clean ROM v0.5 released yesterday ...

Pros:
  1. great improvement in swiping & touch accuracy
  2. faster response on opening apps as well as switching between home screen
  3. claimed full android market access, and finally I'm able to search & install Live 4D & Toto :s12:
  4. bootup logo is simple & elegant, with a nice & sharp shining Android single wording
  5. battery/standby mode aside, you don't even need to do build.prop or additional script tweaking. The touch performance is far much better than those previously installed 2.3.4 / 4.0.3 custom firmware
  6. much better flash support (if I'm not wrong)

Cons:
  1. wiggle touchscreen still exist
  2. pre-installed games & apps mostly gone, except the 2160p player

Currently testing out the standby mode as well as battery duration.

Finally begin to release the potential of Aurora !!

Thanks

don't mind to show me the step

or any other Browser to recommend

If you are on a non 0.9 firmware (the one that greatly boosts smoothness), I would recommend Opera. Much smoother than Dolphin or the stock browser. Chrome doesn't even work. :s13:

when u open default browser, top right hand corner u'll see ... (vertical), That's where the option is for ICS, or at the statusbar.

Then goto settings > debug > browser mode & u'll find u can set to html5 there:s7:

Ya opera is the best for ICS, flash would work on it even in 4.0.1 firmware.

tomx2h had already mentioned battery power management is still not optimised in 0.9 firmware. There's only very little battery improvement as far as I noticed.

just hope they (allwinner) start working on the battery management first instead of the g sensor or continue with flash or get 2160p work:s8: battery draining too fast is the main put off of A10 on ICS. RK2918 is getting a 2nd breath due to it's better integration of ICS:s13:

I totally agreed that battery drainage is still an issue, but I'm not sure which custom ROM you're referring to 1st of all? In fact I feel all are having the same issue

I tried feiyu_mode(0226) from imp3 bbs yesterday, followed by last mentioned essential clean rom v0.5 from slatedroid, IMHO there is really a great difference between the two of them in terms of touch experience.

Whether they're using the same 0.9 based firmware I'm not sure, but as a normal user, I would very much preferred the latter over feiyu as of now. Reasons:

- I don't need the complicated boot up flash video (which most of the time you'll observe "slightly sluggish" boot up), I prefer the simple single word Android style
- I don't need those extra Chinese browser, games & utilities etc
- much better touch experience (closed to Samsung GT 7.0plus), though still can't compared to iPad :look:
- better flash support when viewing youtube as desktop version in Opera browser
- etc etc etc

Just my 2cents opinion :)

The 2 new roms (essential & feiyu) are all based on 0.9. They mainly tweak the build.prop/configure a little and delete/add apps into the system app folder.

For bootani is subjected to preference, but I doubt u'd had tried the 0.9 feiyu. Reason is there's no Chinese browser, games, utilities. There's only useful english apps like root explorer, es task, es folder and cifsmanager.

As for touch and smoothness, both are the same as they are all using Allwinner/Ainol new Mali400 driver and launcher. As well as the new autohide statusbar.

As for opera with flash, if you refer to Novo7A thread, a month or 2 months ago I'd already pointed out opera and one of flash11 version will work with ICS 4.0.1. The flash support of these 2 are the same as they both using the 0.9 beta firmware.

So all I'm saying is there's min differnce between the feiyu & essential roms. It's not like they are CM9, which they could do lots of changes with source code:s8:

Opps, I reply you too eagerly, apologise for the little wrong info about Chinese apps & games statement on feiyu rom.

I definitely already tried 0226 firmware yesterday, as well as the essential rom. Just my personal experience, I still prefer the latter, as of now.

If Ainol going to come out with the official one, I will also try. So long as the player won't turn into a brick :s11:

Technically Allwinner A10 tablet can't be bricked. When ICS firmwares came out for A10, I was flashing P76Ti, Vi10, Vi30, Vi30W, Vi20 firmwares into Novo7A:s13:

You MAY brick it if you suddenly stop the flashing 1/2 way, like sudden blackout, unplug cable, etc.

tomx2h had already mentioned Ainol will likely release the official 0.9 for Novo7Au in coming days. Then it'll be Novo7E, Novo7A2, Novo7A turns:D

You can try Nova Launcher. It's a bit tad smoother.

Cannot compare with S2 lah. I'm also using S2 (with Cyanogenmod 7 installed) That's a dual core Cortex-A9 with slightly lower screen resolution. :)

You *could* try Fukuno. Got mine from them. I would say quite good. They do do some pretty extensive QC testing of them own. They tested the Wifi range and bootup time on mine. Both my friend and I got from them and ours are working fine, except for the lagginess which is a characteristic of the Aurora anyway (until the 0.9 firmware comes out).

Just go SLS and see if you want to buy locally. Else get from Taobao and use an agent to save money. You only know how good an online seller is after someone reviewed the sending back for repair service:s8:
