Speed Test - ASUS RT-N66U and USB-N53

Did some layman speed test for the ASUS RT-N66U and USB-N53 earlier to have a better idea of the wired and wireless-n (2.4GHz, 5.0GHz) speed.

Basically for wired speed, I managed to push about 644.8Mbps upload and 623.0Mbps download.



For Wireless-N on 2.4GHz, managed to hit 51.7Mbps upload and 55.1Mbps upload.



Lastly, for Wireless-N on 5GHz, It clocked 158.4Mbps for upload and 88.2MBps for download.

I am at NOVA Taipei now searching for N66, all shops don't have it! they cite the model is too new.. I wonder if Asus is a Taiwan brand.. haha

anyway they are selling n56u for ard $160. is it worth getting it?

OK la, $40 cheaper than Singapore.
Don't expect third party firmware for 56u( so far only one around)

Seems, i m the only one get issue with Wireless(laptop) to LAN (NAS) file transfer slowess issue.


Does anyone could advise here please?

wire to wire speed ok.
wireless to RT-66U use storange speed ok.
wire to internet speed ok.
wireless to internet speed ok.

Internet VPN back speed ok.

wireless to wire NAS. very slow. speed is not ok...

it seems, i have problem write file from laptop to wire LAN network.

I was under the impression 5Ghz's signal should be as strong .... what are the optimal settings: 5Ghz at 40 Mhz ?

And I can't even connect to it !!

66u and 56u , what is the different?

The first post highlights some differences.
For me, a layman, the major difference is guest network and parental control.
Unfortunately, it seems there is a critical bug in parental control. When you adjust the timings, it no longer works. So for those who use this feature, do not assume it is working. Test it out first.
Yes, another experienced user reported parental control feature not working plus some other feedback.

How can 5GHz be same as 2.4G given similar field of comparison given the relative Law of Physics?

For N66U, 2.4ghz can up to 400W while 5ghz can only achieve 250W.
Default is 45W I think. Crank it up to increase coverage!

still having FTP issues.
Cannot Write!
Only can Read!
Enabled Write in AiDisk already.

Anyone knows why?
Tried in NTFS, FAT32 , exFat(cannot detect). Same problem.
