book reading, definitely 7.7. After useing 7.7 for reading book, my ipad collecting dust. Feels super heavy.

i think 7.7 is best for you. EXCEPT for streaming / dl drama, i not sure if can do it? But should be can (if any tablet can do it, would be open source one like android and not IPAD).

If I may, here's the direct link to download root.zip, and here are the rooting instructions for this method.

For CWM, haven't tried custom ROM for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 yet but I've used CWM to install custom ROM's on my Galaxy S2. Should be fine so long as you have the appropriate update.zip file.

IMHO either rooting method is workable, though Mobile Odin Pro costs S$6.59 on the Android Market (now Google Play), and the Lite version is free from XDA.

Bro Lowem, sorry to bother again, but my I ck, gt instructions to unroot? (which I assume is necessary for ICS update or when going bak to samsung)

How to ck if internal flash counter gt jump or nt?

When installing custom ROM thru CWM, wats e purpose of tis update.zip file?

Lastly i read earlier, tat gt some bros use 64g sd card, how is tis possible since the expandable sd slot is only till 32g

Sorry for asking so many qns n TIA

Just wondering, does GPS for Galaxy tab 7.7 work without data? Wondering if the map will work for me overseas without roaming.

Okay, especially for you (and for anyone who might need these instructions later on), here goes :
How to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 GT-P6800

To check internal flash counter, if you go into download mode you should be able to see the number of times a custom ROM has been installed. At least that was on my S2. Have to verify that it's the same on the Tab 7.7 with the CWM Recovery (edit : verified, it's stated on the top left). Not sure if there's some app for that.

The update.zip file is like an installer, it should contain the scripts and images, apk's etc. required to install your custom update (which can be a ROM, a battery hack, the SDcard write fix, or anything else).

The stated official capacity of the external micro-SDcard is up to 32GB, some people report 64GB works as well. Haven't tried it myself.

GPS uses satellite signals, by right there's no need for data connection.
BUT, Google Maps uses data connection to download and show you the map data.

For offline maps, you can try the Sygic app. It gives you fully offline navigation, with the maps downloaded to your device.

Also, the later versions of Google Maps has offline cache feature, haven't tried but it sounds promising. The very latest versions claim to allow you to specify a cached region as well.
