Cache is managed by ARA. Suntec is also managed by ARA
As far as i can remember, Suntec have hardly done a rights-issue before (pls correct me if i'm wrong) and have always gone the "share placement" path to raise funds... even during the 2008-2009 credit crisis period..
So, i don't expect Cache to go the "rights-issue" path anytime soon.

issue rights at least we shareholders can choose whether we want to buy more (so that our % holdings won't be diluted, although its insignificant...).
but private placement means they are ignoring us..not even giving us a chance to buy at the lower price they are selling to the big boys..

There's another essential difference between a placement and a rights issue.

The amount raised from a placement is usually lesser (there is a limit to how much new units the manager can place out usually the most ard 10% I think; subject to yearly approval from unitholders to issue new units).

The amount raised from a rights issue is usually bigger; usually carried out for a massive acquisitions (eg K-REIT recent right issue purchase OFC) or to reduce leverage to a more manageable level or to strengthen the capital structure.

So you need to see things in prospective. It does not always means that a placement is screwing unitholders out nor is it true that a rights issue is always a good thing.

k-reit price dropped from 3+ per unit to 0.x per unit

so is it a good thing?

I bought this cache on 27th Mar thru SCB. SCB deducted the $ from my securities account on 30th Mar. How do they compute the dividend eligibility ? Buy date or T+3 date? My assumption is buy date.

This is has to be the most stupid decision I ever seen made by ARA. :s27:

Is it so difficult to delay the placement by a day or two so that there is no need for an advanced distribution? Why spend all these unnecessary administrative cost to pay 2 distributions on 1 quarter that differs by only 2 day?

Or at least why dun they 'rollover' the distribution from 30-31 Mar to the next quarter distribution? I really dun think unitholders will mind. And I dun think they have announced plans to do this.

I think I will make time to go to ARA and/or CLT AGM and give the management a piece of my mind.

the day u clicked and it successfully entered yr scb portf and u held past xd you r entitled liao
but you'll be getting the money 1 day later than us cdp a/c holders cos cdp will pay scb nominees 1st on 30 Apr then scb nominees credit to your scb bank a/c on 01 May
