Hi Guys,

Today I just recieved my Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 2 7.0 (Wi-Fi) 8GB from Amazon. Would like to start a thread to discuss this wonderful tablet. (for both Local & Amazon sets)

i am using the Iphone charger/plug

you can get this charger/plug at sim lim square or local shops selling computer products.

don't try to save a few cents and damage your Tab 2

for me:

Tablet = US$249
32gb micro-sd card = US$20+
shipping = US$16+ ( i got a discount from Comgateway )

The original charger also can charge what. You just need an adaptor for the pins. Try not to use those fake iphone/ipad chargers.

Hi,

I got my from Amazon = US $249 (remember to click the FREE DELIVERY - if not you will pay extra ~ US $9)

Comgateway = US $20.74 (including insurance + express delivery)

total = USD 269.74 ( roughly SGD - based on actual credit card bill = $350)

for your information:

Local set Tab 2 with 3G + wifi = $598

or you get it with contract with singtel or starhub if they have this option, then you pay less for the tablet. but pay monthly bills for the data plan.

Rooting Samsung Tab 2 (at your own risk)

Step 1: Download the .zip file of Heimdall [Official Website] and extract using an app like WinRAR or 7-zip.
Step 2: Boot Samsung Galaxy Tab into "Download Mode". To do this, power the device down, and then turn it on while holding the "Volume Down" button.
Step 3: The device will say "Download Mode Do Not Turn Off Target". Now, connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable.
Step 4: Download the following files:
• gt-p3110.pit
• boot-bjr.img
Now keep them in the same place where Heimdall was extracted in Step 1.
Step 5: Open a command prompt and locate the folder from Step 1. Then type in "adb reboot download."
Step 6: Launch heimdall-frontend, and go to the "Flash" tab. Then, load the attached pit file (gt-p3110.pit).
Step 7: In partition details, select "KERNEL", and click "Add."
Step 8: Now, choose "Browse" and select the attached boot-bjr.img. Then, click "Start."
Step 9: After the tablet reboots, type the following into the command prompt:
adb shell
./su
./gtab2-root.sh
The Galaxy Tab should now be rooted.

Please remember to do a nandroid backup before you do other things to your tab.
