For me it's closer to S2 smoothness rather than S3. Still have lags now and then, especially when it's downloading in background.

But a huge improvement over the crapola of sh*t that was honeycomb. And performance was visibly better after a hard reset. Direct install over without wipe didn't gave that good of a performance, so I titanium backup-ed and restored after a hard reset, decent improvement.

And please, ditch the stock launcher and use something like Nova or Apex....

Is Nova or Apex good? I am using Adw EX on Tab 7.7. But i am planning to switch my sgs3 to another launcher. The current touch wiz takes too much memory, however the alignment seems so out in sgs3. Looks ok on 7.7 though... :s22:

tried it, great improvement. definitely not completely smooth, but at least it's much less bothersome than that honeycomb + touchwiz crap last time :o

Dear god, finally. I stuffed my 7.7 into my drawer and haven't switched it back on because of all the nonsensical lag issues and the browser crashing I had to put up with. Gonna fire it up tonight.

bro ruff, where to get the ICS update leh...

thanks

me still newbie on android :s13:

Download link here:
Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: P6800XXLQ1_P6800OXALQ1_ATO.zip

You need to download Odin3 to flash this onto 7.7. (Its a common tool for flashing firmware on samsung android.

But if you want root on this new ICS firmware, then you need to root your current tab, purchase mobile odin pro from play store and flash using mobile odin pro on the tab directly.

I personally prefer Nova, but that because I purchased it, and the dev rocks. :D

But for free version I think Apex has more features. No harm trying both, have free versions.

You will be slightly happier. It doesn't make it as completely smooth as a S2, but it makes a big difference. Free ram is surprisingly much more compared to in HC.

And browser wise, being able to use Chrome makes the world ok again. :D

Does both of these launcher support HW acceleration? So far, i have only purchase ADW EX during 10cent rush and SPB Shell.

Root is not needed to update. Just flash via Odin/Heimdall on ur pc.

To root later on just flash the root.zip we've been using so far after flashing a custom recovery via Odin, but it is not essential to update to ICS.
