Actually the Macbook Air is really a very highly portable laptop.
Slim, lightweight and yet it is a full fledge computer(Mac OS), unlike the ipad and other tablet devices, which may be only slightly smaller and lighter, but does not let you do everything like a proper computer.

I really think if you want great portability, it will definitely be the Macbook Air.

I am considering to get the 11 inch model for real high portability, without feeling limited by OS functionality.

With edu, Ram is about $126. I would say it's more future proof(2-3 years) if you got 8GB of Ram.

For processor, it's about 15-20% cpu performance max. (both i5 and i7 for mba are (2 core + hyperthreading).

Do any shop sell ready configured 8gb ram and i7 macbook air?
Or can only be order via online for those configuration?

Call iStudio and epic and was told that all they sell is the standard configuration.
And went Challenger to check also the same.

Don't really need to have i7 but it will be good if I can find any shop that sell 8GB ram for the macbook air with stock on hand.
Don't really want to buy via Apple online store.

going to hoot from courts this week... 13" air... just need to pay 309bucks for another 2years courts warranty... btw courts cover 1x accidental damage...

End up ordering my 11inch MBA thru Apple store yesterday since no shops seems to carry customised specs.

Ordered the i7 and 8gb ram. Can't afford to up the SSD to 256gb as require $400 more.

BTW, I am using educational link from Apple store, anyone know how to them verification whether you are student or not?

Nope, I'm not but my cousins are so thinking whether need their help on this or not.
And I also prepared to pay the non-educational amount if they do not approve my educational discount.

Side Note: my previous macbook pro was purchase with educational discount and from HK apple store. Total discount about $300-$500 compare to SG normal cost.
