Ya you have holding power since your purpose is to hold for dividend so the short term price movement should not impact u so much as long as the dps doesnt change too much. by the time u decide to sell, even if u incur a loss, it would have been compensated partially by the dividends. of course this is not taking into acc the lost opportunity cost of the $ put in the stocks. reits are pretty safe bets anyway so i think the shares are a good vehicle for dividends collection

Actually i feel if you are going to invest in reits generally, you should be prepared to hold out longer for dividend rather than for short term capital appreciation (unless the gains are significant and is equivalent to say a year of dividend ?). Reits will also have limited upside as compared to other growth stocks which are more violatile. Reits are also generally more resilient (the better ones with good managers) during a sell down also. I would not sell and take a loss for reits unless i really really need the money, opportunity cost aside.

yes, its basically low risk, low returns. its less volatile but wont give u extraordinary profits in a shot. with the property and estate market in spore getting good valuation, reits are good to hold :s8:

Actually returns from dividends are pretty decent, around 6-8% on average. Beats inflation and way better than keeping it in the bank, plus prices don't fluctuate a lot.

For REITs, I will recommend FCT and CMT.

I am not a guru though.

Thanks for the compliments. :o

The prices now are rather high. :(

Well, prices of all the REITs are getting higher.

We just need to wait. I have been waiting for 2 months. :(

MCT is still reasonable though.

just remember high can get higher and low can get lower.

actually the current yields of our reits are trading at more attractive levels as compared to pre-2007 levels. and during that time interest rates were even higher compared to now, thus the yields spread is smaller back then in pre-2007.

now interest rates are much lower than pre-2007 and current yields from reits are still higher, thus the spreads are even bigger. it goes to show, more room for reits to appreciate further.

Sabana Reit to buy Serangoon North property for $61m

Sabana Shari'ah Compliant Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust plans to acquire a Serangoon North Ave 5 property for $61 million.

Its manager, Sabana Real Estate Investment Management Pte Ltd, said on Wednesday that its trustee, HSBC Institutional Trust Services (Singapore) Limited, has entered into a sale and purchase agreement with Ban Teck Han Enterprise Co Pte Ltd for the purpose-built five storey light industrial building with a mezzanine level.

It is located on the northern side of Serangoon North Avenue 5, within Serangoon North Industrial Estate, and approximately 12.0 kilometres from the city centre, which according to the manager, is an "attractive strategic location".

Completed in 2008 with a gross floor area of approximately 159,384 square feet, the property is a JTC leasehold estate of 30 + 20 years 15 days tenure commencing from September 16, 2006.
