Yeah I'd also like to hear any feedback on it before I leap. So I read that W is non 3G. Then what about 302u?

Ok I made the leap using the HWMOD version.

Made the silly mistake of disabling auto restore from market and had to manually restore using Titanium.

I guess after the update it just feels "new"?

Currently no thoughts on how to test for:
"Excellent image and video effect, supports HTML5, smoother surfing experience"

But I might need to resolve ANRs popping up due to the manual restore of apps...

i bought my screen protector from SLS, dun have mediapad so the lady uses cutter to cut and i must say the job she did is really pro loh. As for casing, did not manage to find thus bought from ebay....

Looks like the successor to the MediaPad. But instead of calling it the MediaPad 2 or MediaPad Plus, Huawei is calling it MediaPad 7 Lite. Hope it can be priced as competitively as the Nexus 7.

I installed the official HUAWEI MediaPad FIRMWARE(S7-302u,Android4.0,C232B001,General Channel) firmware. It is fine but how do I root this latest version of the official firmware?

Else, which is the latest root stable firmware (official or not official)?

With ics, taking screenshot is by way of pressing and hold power button plus volume key(the one furthest from power key), but is there anyway to mute the loud click sound?

Try putting all relevant sound setting to silent, but to no avail. So is there a way to mute screen short sound?

I tried out your method yesterday, same thing, nothing happens. Still can hear cracking sound and no display on the TV. The TV detects as connected to a 1080p 60hz device but nothing appears. Now I don't know which is faulty, the TV or the mediapad. I don't have other hdmi device to test with the TV.

The problem was my mediapad. Sent for servicing stating the problems i encounter, yesterday collected back. They gave me a brand new one. Now the USB OTG and HDMI features are working fine. Thanks to all those bros, who gave their humble advice and instructions when I was going around asking for advice. Thanks again.

USB OTG on mediapad

Hi All,

Found the mediapad can do the following with the USB OTG cable/adapter,

1. It can charge my nokia n9
2. Power up a usb speaker and play music on it
3. Can detect the 3G USB broadband stick with blue light blinking but cannot connect to internet. (found out in the net, need to be rooted and used with stickmount from the play store)
4. Mouse and flashdrive can be used(nothing new, posted here before)

I will update further if I come across something very new on the USB OTG. Its my way of giving back to the bros of this forum.

Rooted 301U!

Is this rooted ?

I found a 301U version, with B005 sub version 9ICS 4.0.3 HWMOD C232B005) that is rooted!

I tested the root with titanium backup and such and it works!
It removed some bloatware and added some useful apps. See the thread there to find out more. Gotta read to the end to understand this rooted ROM. Not bad. Easy to flash - as per normal. And if you have backup to titanium or Huawei backsup software then even easier, or follow the thread instructions to 'preserve' data.

Installed this, screen is smoother, and Antutu is 6000+ at 1.5GHz.
