It is not okay to move your steering wheel. When you mean move you mean steer right? Not just "move" a bit?

I got "Steering while vehicle is stationary" during my last TP.
The tester even knows my instructor teaches all his students to steer while vehicle is stationary. Not stepping on the brakes while steering, does not mean you are not steering while vehicle is stationary.
But He only deducted me once for it though i did it a few times. 2 points iirc

Usually a full lock on cars is 2 and 1/2 turns right?

Actually the best way to know your steering position when confused is to let your car move slowly at halfclutch, while preparing to brake anytime if you sense you are going to strike kerb

During parallel i also easily confused. Like in parallel if i not sure if my wheel is straight, i halfclutch a bit and see where the vehicle is 'moving'. Make sure you look at the car position before moving forward/backwards to 'test', if your rear wheel close to the rear kerb then better to go forward.

After that quickly adjust back. Usually is when the steering wheel looks pointing 'straight' but the car is not moving straight, thus you know your wheel isn't straight.

WHen you full lock the steering wheel it will not look pointing straight, thus, if your steering wheel looks pointing straight, but your vehicle isn't going straight, you know you have to counter turn +/- one round like that.

Thanks for the help bro! I turn to YouTube videos for some help and seems like I got it right maybe a bit more practice. :o Hopefully can try a few more times for my next weeks lesson.

No problem, but i think i will steer while vehicle is stationary during my TP bah... instructor say safer than strike kerb...:(

Same situation over here....I have not much problem with parallel
I always have problem identifying the "sighting" point, everytime like different, i dnuo why....:(

Have to practice it few times everytime to get it right.

Hi hi. I just started picking up driving!

Just wanna ask, for moving off, do you guys release clutch and step on the accelerator at the same time?

I realise I have the bad habit of stepping on the accelerator FIRST then slowly release clutch. By then, it's considered delay in moving off liao. So just wondering if doing it concurrently will result in faster moving off or will it stall the engine?

Actually step gas first before release clutch is a very good way to reduce chances of stalling, no worries you won't get marked for delay in moving off.
Delay in moving off is when green light already but after 1.5sec or so still haven't move off
or when at stop line/filter lane no more oncoming traffic or still very far but you haven't move off

Thanks! but woah, 1.5 seconds seem too short for me too. By the time i release the brake and step on the accelerator, then slowly release clutch, already maybe 5 seconds? :p

5 secs is very long no wonder you get "delay in moving off". Practise more. :)

Hello,
I want to ask a few questions regarding the TP test

When you are turning at a T-junction or a large cross-junction (especially the one outside BBDC, right turn at junction), is it a demerit point if I switch gears when executing the turn? Trying to turn fast really strains the engine at first gear.

During Directional Change/ Parallel parking, am I allowed to stick my head out of the window to check progress?

I am a private student, and have just been told to book a TP date. In the event that I fail on the first try, do I need to wait for another 2-3 months to get a date, or is there a shorter waiting time for 2nd attempt?

Are test dates available on Saturdays after 1300hrs (BBDC)?

Any replies are welcome. Thanks!

During Directional Change/ Parallel parking, am I allowed to stick my head out of the window to check progress?-yes, but handbrake and neutral gear applied.

I am a private student, and have just been told to book a TP date. In the event that I fail on the first try, do I need to wait for another 2-3 months to get a date, or is there a shorter waiting time for 2nd attempt?- normally waiting time is still a few months

Are test dates available on Saturdays after 1300hrs (BBDC)?-no

Any replies are welcome. Thanks!

hey guys, going for my tp this sat morning at Ubi. got a few question. hehe.
When u guys doing parallel or vertical parking after doing 360 safety check do u guys turn and look at the rear windscreen during reversing? cos normally I will look at my side mirror.
one more question is my instructor always teach me to turn my steering wheel when the car not moving for parallel parking so I believe i did that afew times during parallel parking. will I get points once or depending on how many times i did it? kinda afraid to change method so last mins.

Thanks.
