Hi,

Anyone has experience with Michelin Primacy 3? I was about to change to PS3 but the shop I visited recommended Primacy 3 instead.

Did a quick search, Primacy 3 was newly launched in Europe in Feb 2012. Very few reviews on this new Tyres. Attracted by the promo price from Dealer ($30 cheaper per tyre for Primacy 3 as compared to PS3).

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, I wrote to Michelin Singapore... they replied saying they are only launching Primacy 3 in Singapore come 2013. So I believe the dealer stock are imported. Michelin mentioned that Primacy 3 will be replacing Primacy HP and it belongs to luxury / comfort category.

My current tyre is Yoko dB E501. Two of my colleagues driving the same car as me changed to PS3. Hence I started looking for a dealer near my office and then I was recommended to consider Primacy 3.

I think the PS3 should give better wet/dry grip. :)

ok, thanks for the advice... i read many good reviews on PS3, which is why I am hesitant on Primacy 3 (firstly it is new, secondly I am not sure of its performance although it is cheaper).

Thanks again.

Primacy tyres has always been comfort biased..
while Pilot Sport series always performance biased..

Primacy 3 is the newest and probably the best in Primacy series, and the PS3 is not the best not newest in its series..

so conclusion, is get the Primacy3

Hi,

I actually went to Soh Tyre, Kim Hoe, AL Tyres, and Chen jin Trading and Eng Wah Tyre, to check out RIMs and also Tyre prices... I was only recommended with Primacy 3 at Kim Hoe.

I did extensive search on reviews on Primacy 3 but as this tyre was relatively new (launched less than 6 months in Europe) there are very few users reviews online (except those reviews posted by Michelin themselves on YouTube and their website). I wrote to Michelin UK to ask for more info, they too was unable (or unwilling) to provide more direct comparison between PS3 and Primacy 3.

I have also checked with Michelin Singapore and they say they are only launching Primacy 3 in Spore 2nd half of 2013 and eventually it will replace Primacy HP. I search Michelin Australia and there is a chart showing Primacy range is a "balance" between Performance and Comfort where PS is more focus on Performance.

I have finally decided on PS3 mainly because it was proven. Both my colleagues recently changed to PS3 and the feedback was good and I have also seen many good (local) online reviews on PS3.

The prices quoted for Primacy 3 for 225/50 R17 is $380 each but for intro promotion it is offering at $320 each. As it is imported there is no local agent (6yrs) warranty. For PS3 the price I found is around $330 to $360 (depending on which shop you go to). In general, prices from Soh Tyre & Eng Wah are usually on a slightly more competitive side and the difference is only about $10 cheaper for each tyre.

michelin pilot sports 3 cannot be quiet after a while (>15000km i have it on mine)

but wet the compared to those previous i had in the past is outstanding.
steering doesn't pull to the side with waters.
my subsequent replacement will be the same (ps3).

if you want good wet grip, avoid ep100. yoko are good grip in dry but not in wet.
again, do you drive fast in wet or you are extra caution while driving in wet)

Talking about PS3.
Believed as many bros here know there are 2 'types'; 1 considered PI and another considered under Agent.

This is what I understand from one of the dealers;(don't flame me wor)
Those under PI are tyres from Europe, Germany, Spain, etc.
These tyres are those with very soft tyre's side wall.
Reason as understand from the dealer, it's meant for cold weather whereby the tyres need to be soft enough to re-stand the changing in cold to hot and hot to cold weather.
So the boss said it is acually not suitable for Sg as our weather's always hot and the tyres get softer under hot weather.
So it marketed at a lower price at around $230 range per piece but with no agent's warrenty.

And those PS3 under agent warrenty are MADE IN THAILAND.
It's side wall is harder. And is more suitable to be used in SG.
It priced higher at around $270 per piece with agent's warranty.

Seriously if you asked me what about warrenty, hhmmm I don't think it important but as mentioned by the dealer.
If any tyre is found with maunfacture's faults, like a lump from side wall, etc.
There will do a replacement for you.

Nevertheless, the dealer said the tyre's compound area all the same be it PI(made in europe, etc) or agent(made in thailand)
[Do not flame me wor]
why? Sorry for being a 'true Singaporean' that we always prefer and believe items made/brought from Europe countries should be better comparing to any made in neighbouring countries.

Note: what stated above is what I heard from a dealer.
How true or not I do not know thou.
If you need to know which shop I went to.
Please PM me thou.

Cheers

I will drive slightly slower only, with better wet grip at least it is safer for me.

I already fitted my PS3s over the weekend. Paid $155 for 205/55/16 as you might have guessed this is PI tyres. Made in Spain, the agent Thai ones are $195 each. Not very willing to pay extra $40/ tyre. To me warranty quite a BS never see tyre need warranty one. Anyway since I changed 4 I get free rotate and repair so no need warranty also.
