TO me its horrible at least. The pixelation is unbearable, TF700/iPad screen is wayyy better than it, definitely noticeable and distinct, just like the iphone 3GS vs iPhone 4 screen. TS should wait for a few more days for the rumoured 400ppi nexus 10 to be announced, probably made by samsung too

been using it for quite awhile, i have to say, the biggest selling pt for me is the performance of the device and the amount of RAM it comes with, tgt with the s-pen features. i have spent alot of time drawing and taking notes and i actually bought the galaxy note 10.1 because it had the s-pen which most of the other tablets did not offer. other than that i felt that most tablets do pretty much the same job.

a big consideration for was me the screen resolution. at the time of launch, there was already a few other tablets with a better screen resolution. however i use the tablet to surf some web, watch some videos, send out emails and msgs and play games and i didnt seem to miss having a bigger screen. i've heard other friends whom have been weighing between the TF300 and the Galaxy Note 10.1, its better to see what features are important to you at the end of the day as I think that they are both not bad

Depends on what you use it for. Watch rmvb movies not good. Colours oversaturated and quality not good. Watching movies on ipad is better as the colours look more nature. Surf webstill ok. Speakers a bit soft even though in front.

yes the S-pen is also what attracted me to this device, I'm a college student and I need to take lots of notes and I do not want to bring around heavy notebooks to class. is it hard to write on this device?

try it in the stores for yourself to decide.

for me, writing proper notes on tablets in general, and in particular this one, is not recommended. It's far far from using pen and paper.

Writing on the Note 10.1 is superb, better than any Android or Apple tablet that you will find on the market at the moment (no experience with the newly launched Win tablets). If inking is your primary objective for an Android tablet, getting the Note 10.1 is a no brainer.

I use the third party app 'Lecture Notes' for taking meeting notes - inking is smooth and lag-free; palm rejection is excellent. I use ezPDF to read and annotate on PDF files - works brilliantly. If you've tried the inking ability of other tablets like the HTC Flyer and Lenovo Thinkpad, you will appreciate just how good the Note 10.1 is at inking. The in-built Samsung keyboard also has an uncanny ability to read my handwriting using the S-pen which is impressive.

And best of all, inking capability aside, the Note 10.1 is still a very good tablet in general - poweful processor and large RAM, very smooth UI (I use Nova Launcher in place of TouchWiz), slim and light (your wrists will thank you for it; I'm fine with the plasticky feel since my tablet is wrapped up in a luxurious light leather case), good battery life, common enough to find cases and accessories for it.

The Note 10.1's supposed archilles heel is its screen resolution which doesn't have bragging rights as the highest on the market. But to put things in perspective, the Note's resolution is no worse than most Android tablets out on the market at the moment and I don't have much to complain about the screen. If not having the highest resolution screen is a major issue and you are willing to give up all else that the Note 10.1 has to offer, then by all means, discard the Note 10.1 from your purchase consideration. Otherwise, the Note 10.1 is a brilliant tablet that has exceeded my expectations. Well done Samsung !

My Experience With Note 10.1

I've used the Note 10.1 since its arrival in the last PC show. This is one tablet that I highly reccomend. As a matter of fact, I bought it just days before my business trip and it has served me very well. This is more than a media consumption device, in fact it is one that you can actually leave your notebook at home and go to work with. I brought my notebook along for my trip but I hardly use it other than transferring RAW photos from my DSLR to the hard disk for backup.

The star of Note 10.1 is the S Pen
The S Pen is excellent for writing minutes in meetings, note taking in seminars and conferences, illustrating concepts in sales presentation, in fact anything you do with paper and pen you can do much more with Note 10.1. It is smooth, precise and writes exactly like a pen on paper. On top of that you have choice of colours to use. It lightens your bag from note pads and pencil cases. I've used other tablets and bought the best stylus pen (including the Jot Pro)in the market but no way do I have ease of use, fluidity and functionality as with the S Pen.

The Screen Is Not As Bad As Many Make It Out To Be
I was using a Galaxy 7.7, but find the screen too small even though it's beautiful super amoled. I find the Note 10.1 screen very pleasant, bright and clear unless you are using it purely for media consumption.

It's Very Fast & With Jelly Bean Fantastic
I find it very fast compared to my 7.7 and my friend who bought the Note 10.1 from my recommendation just updated his with a leaked Jelly Bean -it's as smooth as the Galaxy Note 2. I am waiting eagerly for the official Jelly Bean to rollout anytime soon, whatever you can do with the Note 2, you get to on 10.1 with Jelly Bean. I went for many weeks without rebooting as there is hardly any lag or apps crashing due to insufficient memory. Not many Android tablets can do that. As of today, most tablets with higher resolution screens do not yet have CPU & GPU power for a refined experience.

Look For Real World Reviews
If I were to look for reliable reviews, I'll pay close attention to those who own it, used it and kept it. Check out the reviews from the many users in XDA and compare the raves to the rants, the Note 10.1 is truly a productivity tool.

The Question To Ask
Are you looking for a media consumption device or are you looking for a productivity tool? There lies your answer to your thread.

Go to challenger and try out the ASUS TF700T for 20 mins. Then switch over to the Note 10.1 and come back and tell us your thoughts about the screen :)

Doubt nexus 10 will have phone function like note 10.1

It will ultimately depend on your needs. For me at least, I have no use for making phone calls from a 10" device.

The nexus 10 will be announced in ony a few days though; it would at least be prudent to see what it offers first before deciding on a 10" android tablet.

I think you miss the point, it's not about the screen resolution alone, you have to evaluate base on the overall package. Spending time in a store to fiddle a device does not give you the true picture of a device compared to using it day in and out which was why feedback from real users are more accurate. There are many who like the screen of the TF700T but could not live with the lag.

Just bought note 10.1 on fri after much consideration. Was using iPad with stylus before purchase. I would say 10.1 stylus is better. With the correct app, it's like writing on a piece of paper.

If u are using a projector with note 10.1, it'll be slightly troublesome but I find it's worth it. So now I'm using note 10.1 and iPad hand in hand.

There won't be any perfect product in the market.
