THE BAD
  • Toshiba Singapore is NOT interested in providing after sales firmware update
  • Toshiba Singapore is NOT answering to users enquiry on firmware release date

IMO, Consider another brand..... Anything except TOSHIBA.;)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 better?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 holds very well when compare against the latest quad-core tablets, even better than some in some tests.

Was thinking of getting this AT270 instead of Tab 7.7, but now having second thoughts as to whether the $300 difference is justified or not.

If only more reviewers do comparison tests to confirm it.

Hello, didn't the review already compare both devices?

It's now a personal decision if you favor those couple of positive aspects and the larger built-in storage.

If those aspects doesn't matter, then the Tab 7.7 is a fine choice.

I own the Tab 7.7 and I did think about about waiting for the AT270, but I know it being new and unavailable at the point of my decision making process, it's not worth the extra cost for my needs (new stuff are never affordable).

If you think about it, Tab 7.7 was also priced close to S$800 when it was new. But it's now in the market for quite a while and that is its advantage - a mature product that is no longer in the limelight and is overshadowed by the Tab 2 products. Thus the Tab 7.7 has become a very good buy with its updated firmware and current price.

If you need a more premium 7.7-inch tablet, the choice is clear that it's the Toshiba unit.

After sales and support is something we've no idea about and we'll leave that to other members to comment upon. Everyone has a different experience and viewpoint.

Thanks for your comments. Actually I have owned a tab 7.7 since April, but have passed it to my wife who complained that her "new" ipad is too slow and got no flash. Even my domestic helper also got one recently.

I am on the lookout for a compact tablet currently. If not due to exclusion of jelly bean, I would have gotten the tab 7.7 without hesitation. But if more reviewers would confirm that it is not inferior to other quad-core tablets, then I might consider it. So let's see if there is any good deal at Sitex 2012.

Hi best_ctzn,

To-date, in actual usage, we really can't find a need to specifically get a quad-core tablet over a dual-core one. Well, apart from the downloading Tegra-optimized games that is :p

Otherwise, it's not much of a dual-core vs. quad-core discussion, but whose user interface works well and doesn't lag the device. As seen in the raw benchmarks, how many cores doesn't really matter.

And yes, Jelly Bean would have made it a compelling reason to help decide between the 2 devices. But alas, there's no confirmation from either brands of their plans for the 7.7-inch device and that's a bit of a let-down.

Definitely not interested in getting yet another tablet with a proprietary connector esp one that is as huge n ugly as the Toshiba's. Whatever happened to micro-USB?

Actually why isn't microusb the default charging port for Android tablet since it used for most of the android hp. Is it low voltage capability? My hp tablet uses microusb and I dun see any issues.

Because you're not using the correct Android tablets. :D

Current Nexus tablets all microusb. But as usual, other manufacturers like to sell you extra accessories. :D
