Try connecting your laptop directly to the other 3 unused LAN ports and configuring it with a static IP within the same subnet as the default ONT ip address, e.g. 192.168.100.88 (with subnet 255.255.255.0), and then navigate your web browser to http://192.168.100.1.

Actually the instructions are already in the manual that came with the ONT? It works for me.

Account name and password is also in the manual, but note that there is actually a higher privilege "telecomadmin" account which gives you access to more stuff like voip settings.

Looking at the available settings, it also seems possible to make use of the other 3 LAN ports if configured correctly.

Btw, realized I haven't tried connecting my router to any ports other than LAN port #1 - does it actually matter which port you connect it to?
Can meh? I ever call m1 before. The CSO told me lan port 1 is useable, the rest all cannot use le. Please advice the setting to use port 2-4 le. Now i also have problem log into the webpage.

I hope you mean you used a cat5 cable between ONT and laptop.
I plug it to LAN port 4. I never with any other port though (I believe port 2-4 should be working).

When I connected LAN port 4 to my wireless router (WAN port), it wont be able to get internet connection. And I can only connect LAN port 1 to wireless router. I suspect LAN port 1 is the only port that able to have internet connection (forget the networking term for that).

In your laptop, set:

gateway: 192.168.100.1
ip address: 192.168.100.2 (any number from 2-254)
subnet: 255.255.255.0

Try to ping 192.168.100.1 -t
If you can get reply, means the ONT default IP is 192.168.100.1

and once you are connected, login via web browser
username: root
password: admin

Play at your own risk ;)
Is this setting works in order to log into black M1 ONT?

Obviously M1 will say no - in the default settings, only LAN port 1 is to be connected to your own router. The rest of the ports are assumed to be unusable.

I was only saying that based on the settings configurable when you login to the ONT, it *seems* that ports 2-4 may be usable if configured properly.

Perhaps the 3 remaining ports can be used as a simple switch? E.g. connect one of your router's LAN ports to one of the ONT's unused ports - you might gain one extra gigabit port... (but like quite pointless just for one extra port).

Is this setting works in order to log into black M1 ONT?

Yes... btw, did your ONT come with a manual? I believe the instructions are actually provided along with the root/admin credentials.

As I have mentioned previously, here is another update:

I dropped by M1 shop on 1st Dec (sat) after confirming with another customer service that I can recontract.. The shop confirmed that I can, even tho i am on premium contract (prev promo redeem laptop), as i am in my 23rd month.. for non-premium contracts, can recontract by 20th month.. so i proceeded to get the 200mbps plan and the $209 asus rt-n66u.. the change of ont will be done via an appointment which has yet to be set (waiting for their call), but i was informed that there will be a downtime of 7-10 days after the changeover of ont (can AhWise confirm this? so long?).. i plan to have this changeover just before i go overseas (to minimize disruption).. all in all, the process went smooth.. now juz wait to see how it is when the connection finally changed..

i called M1 customer service after not getting any calls for an appointment.. turns out it was not reflected in the system that i needed an ONT change.. after explaining my situation for 15 mins, the CS said she will call me back to confirm on when the appt can be set (i explained to her i wanted the downtime to be between 14th to 19th when im overseas).. a different CS called back, and suggested the same option as some of u might have experienced (activating 2nd port at termination point).. she said they will get openet to activate the second port on the termination point, and M1 will send someone down to fix the black ONT.. after which, 2 days later (and confirming the black ONT has connection), NC will collect the white ONT, and i will have to send the RG back to IMM or paragon.. and then comes the kicker: they can only set the first appt on 19th dec. NC collect on 21st dec. so if everything goes fine (difficult to say at this pt), i will only get my 200mbps 3 weeks after recontracting.. which is not really what i signed up for..

my understanding is that there are 2 date for the 2nd TP port activation.

1) M1 to arrange OpenNet to check on the port 2 (assuming its 19 Dec)
2) M1 will install the black ONT on the 2nd appointment which is 2 days later (21 Dec)
3) no idea when NC is coming to collect the white ONT (to arrange with CSO)

oh okay.. i tot the first appt is 2-in-1, where opennet will activate the 2nd port while M1 install the black ONT, and the second appt is when NC will collect the white ONT cuz usually the 2nd port will be activated after 24-48 hours..

For me, given the same situation, would rather have the 200mbps 3 weeks later with uninterupted internet access (i.e the existing 100Mbps ) than getting no internet for 7~8 days...

Just connect your TP Link to the ONT Lan Port 1 and follow the user Setup guide in the TP Link. No special configure at M1 ONT, just plug and play.

ops sorry, didnt realised its a adsl router. then its not possible. you need to have the router that has a input LAN cable point (internet/WAN).

time to get a new router.
