Hi, just to add on.. After trying out last night, still unable to get connection. My laptop shows unable to detect ip address, on my black huawei modem the PON is blinking green & the LOS no light. I just called M1 but according to them the modem will auto detect ip, any solution to this or experience by M1 users before? I will only get home after 2359 tonight so tech support also close shop already... :s11:

Hi, after trying with my laptop and desktop directly connected to the black ONT. Still same issue that unable to detect ip address. I did reboot all equipments everytime when I change connection. Is the ONT PON light blinking green and the LOS no light at all normal?

unplug the patch fibre cable from the ONT and TP and then plug them back in again see how.

the TP got two ports, usually is use the first port.

ONT also usually is use the first port.

make sure you don't plug them into the wrong ports.

As per mentioned in my PM, likely reason is your ONT settings is gone.
please DO NOT press the reset button on the ONT!

It resets the ONT back to Huawei(Manufacturer) default settings, and not M1 settings.
You have to ask M1 to re-provision your settings of your ONT from their backend, which will take some time.

I re-contracted my fibre+mobile phone bundle which comes with free home line. I had asked for the black ONT cos mine is the old white one which doesn't support voice. I was told my area doesn't support the black ONT and if I want the voice have to rent their router/ONT (duno which device can't recall). Doesn't sound convincing to me leh.

Anyone signed up their fibre and was told they cannot use the black ONT due to where they are living? I'm in jurong east.

Jurong East *should* be covered, but they should have the more accurate info.
You may want to check with them again.

Do not that there is a number of days of downtime, if you swap.
So do take note.

Just that first time hearing this, I thought the RG was phased out already and I don't see why the black ONT cannot support certain areas as it is just to receive the Fibre signal in the house. I can't find any mention of not all areas can use the black ONT in their fine print. So before I question them again thought I get some feedback here :)

Yes I meant for new customers. Cos if there are areas that supposedly not compatible with the black ONT then it should be like offering both depending on where customers live.

Just signed up for M1 fibre BB last night. Was offered the Asus N66 router or a cisco linksys rougher. I can't remember the model of the 2 routers but i can only recall that the Asus offered was N66U or N66R for $209.

Was actually considering the N56U router after reading the thread here as it is highly recomended.

Could experts here enlighten me what is the difference between these 3 routers, beside the price. I belive all the 3 routers mentioned are Dual band, thus what is the difference betwenn the single band and dual band and what use is there for dual band? in addition, due to the layout of the house, i m sure that the furtherest room would not be able to get signal. Thus what options do i have besides home plug?

Would using home plug be sufficient? as i would be using wiring to the TV and wifi in the room.

I am quite an idiot to all these and it's the first time i am getting network service for my own place. So hope i can gather more understanding before i purchase the right router as i do not wish to over spend or spent on the wrong thing.

Thanks in advance.

Asus RT66U - $209
Linksys E1200 - $52
Linksys EA4500 - $199

Get the Asus RT66U would be a better choice, performance wise the coverage and stability is better than the other 2.

bro actually for home use and 4 room hdb flat, is the linksys enough?

My computer will be connecting to the linksys E1200 via rj45 and just tablet, phones to use the wifi within the hdb. Would it be okay or should i invest more on the asus model?

Since com is connected via Rj45, i should get max speed for asus or linksys E1200 right?

how about comparing the coverage of N66 to N56 and N65?
N56 has 5 internal antenna while N65 has 3 and N66 has 3 external.

I am staying in a 4rm hdb with the TP at the tv point near to the window.

Just an update, I called M1 yesterday and after some test it is deem that they are unable to detect my ONT from their end. The PON light must be steady green after the initial few seconds, if it is still blinking after a while then no need to try here n there, call M1 straight away to test the signal to your ONT. Got to wait for their housecall tomorrow....:(
