Hello~

Will like to check with you guys about the downtime (scheduled maintenance) for M1.

Shows here that its down every Tuesday from 1am - 6am?
Does that mean you wouldn't be getting connectivity at all? So what if you're torrenting? Kaboom? :s11:

just refer to M1 for more accurate maintenance time.

do note the schedule does not always affect the entire fibre broadband user and usually their affect a certain zone. If you are staying at Bedok, then your zone (CO) is under BD CO etc..

amd if u are torrenting when the maintenance kicks in, the most u lost the connectivity to seed/leech.

there are cases whereby opennet side have problems activating the signal at their end and thus causing the rescheduling for the black ont. such cases are rare & issue lies on opennet end.

AhWise, I believe I am affected by this. I was issued with the Black huawei modem. Installed last Wednesday. Till today, the LOS still blinking Red. M1 is pushing all the blame on OpenNet but do not want to give me, the Customer, any reasonable estimate of the day which I can use. My singnet line will be terminated very soon. They even ask me to use the "Free" mData sim card for internet.

Do you have further advice for me? Can i call up Opennet to expedite this matter?

Opennet is not able to give a definite answer to M1 and thus they cant give u an estimated date. No point give u a date & end up cant fulfil eventually.

i come across few scenario of your issue, there are some which resolve within a day, some which took 1 week and more than 2 weeks. if by your singnet contract end and still not resolved, then call to hotline and be firm on your decision what u expect :D

no point call opennet, they wont be able to entertain u

This is the first time I come across a business practice that do not have any accountability. If there are no expected or estimated turn around time, Opennet and M1 can do anything they want. Consumer can do nothing but get frustrated.

My singnet contract has ended. And i'm paying additional just because M1 cannot fulfill their promises. Is this the philosophy of M1? 1 customer is nothing attitude.

don't blame M1, it is nothing more than just a middleman. if Opennet don't want to give a definite answer there is nothing M1 can do.

want to blame then blame Opennet and IDA...

Well i am not the owner of the line so i cannot shoot the M1 staff directly.

But this is what i encountered so far
1. The owner kena smoked by m1 staff saying you can only recontact after you finish the stupid contract so the owner blindly waited till the 8 Dec and when he wanted to sign up the gamer plan, the offer was already over.

2. I got fed up so i went on to sign with Starhub gamer plan but since the ONT was under m1, starhub asked us to settle with m1. M1 told the subscriber again that the white ONT had no problems supporting the speed of 200Mbps which i read from the earlier post that white one does not support anything above 100.

3. With the offer over, I had to wait till next IT show in March 2013 before I could sign up for m1 gamer plan with promotion and by then i would encounter the same problem cos for now Both M1 and Starhub lines will be connected under the same ONT while i won't be paying $39 for the 100Mbps plan i had now.

Yes, M1 was right about the white ONT.
The "white one" that don't support anything above 100Mbps is the M1 RG, aka Huawei HG256 which is milky white in color...

Starhub Fiber should be able to install on Port 2 of the ONT.

if the installer plug in his laptop to test the connection earlier on and then you plug in your laptop thus will have no connection.

remember everytime u plug in a new device (laptop or router), you need to do a restart of the ont (modem) otherwise if will "remember" only first machine macID.

Ok, at least i only get the technical part wrong. For the rest of the points they are in the wrong.

Hi, just to add on.. After trying out last night, still unable to get connection. My laptop shows unable to detect ip address, on my black huawei modem the PON is blinking green & the LOS no light. I just called M1 but according to them the modem will auto detect ip, any solution to this or experience by M1 users before? I will only get home after 2359 tonight so tech support also close shop already... :s11:

You can only connect your devices to port 1 of the ONT. Other ports will not work.
Every time you switch devices connected to the ONT, don't care if it is router, pc, laptop, you need to reboot the ONT. You may need to reboot your laptop or laptop also. So best is reboot everything.

Hope this helps.

I rebooted my laptop n the modem(1 min power off then resume) several times untill I give up, and yes my laptop is connected to lan port 1. Tonight I am gg to try by moving my gaming desktop out to living room and try..
