Hello,

I've updated to the latest version firmware, but my transit power max out at 200mw, I've read some of you guys able to achieve 500mw using custom firmware.

Which firmware do you guys recommend and why?

Why High Power Routers Don't Improve Range - SmallNetBuilder

Be aware, that you are only allowed up to 200mW for 2.4G band in SG.

Thanks for the article, very informative and makes sense!

So it says higher antenna antenna will benefit with tx and rx more significantly compared to adjusting router's side tx power only, while clients are unable to "shout (tx)" back to the router; unless client also up its tx power.

i still need to boost the coverage this rt-n66u coverage without adding AP/repeaters.

Any recommendation for 2.4 + 5ghz rp-sma omni directional antenna with around 6 to 9 dbi ?

is he on M1 Fibre broadband?

there's an offer from M1 where you can purchase the Asus RT-N66U router for only S$209, with 3 years local warranty. I just bought it.

Just replaced the Dlink DIR-655 with the Asus RT-N66U, wireless performance seems much better.

However, my wired LAN not as fast. Maybe its because of the slow Buffalo LinkStation Quad.

Maybe you can provide us more information?

Laptop Max bandwidth? 300mbps? 150mbps?
Connection Signal? how many percent?
Connection band: 2.4Ghz/5Ghz
How far is your laptop between router?
tested old router?

It is a direct wired(cat6) connection from laptop to the RT-N66U. Laptop has 1GB ethernet as well.

wireless connection speed is lower:

Wireless is just beside the router on 5GHz bandwidth

what kind channel are you using for both bands? btw, you are using 20MHz only for 2.4GHz

possible to show the entire screencapture instead of the crop version?

i set 20/40 band in the router. Should i set only 40MHz?

yeap you should set 40MHz only if possible. configure it to wireless n only will help as well.

is channel 11 the best channel for your neighbourhood? or are you staying in an isolated area without any wireless APs around other than yours?

for your 5GHz, able to set to US channel only? 40MHz only?

perform a speedtest with wireless 5GHz thereafter. my advise, try to use a different name for your 5GHz from your 2.4GHz

will try your advice and test it out. There are other APs around, just that i focus the inSSIDer to my network only. Yup channel 11 is the least utilize.

But my wired connection is not as great as well. Not sure if it is related to router setting?

Thanks for your help:D

If after configuring you are still facing issues, you might want to do a rma to ensure that the issue lies with your system instead of the router.

Wired I believe you are using a good cat5e cable at least yeah?
