can I get Viewquest service to run with my own wireless router ? I mean I dont want to pay for the rental of a router and set it in bridge mode. Is there a way ?

You need the ONT which terminates the GPON connection in your home. The router functionality is an additional bonus.

Some see it as a bonus some as a nuisance... I have enough gadgets in my home so I'm trying to go "minimalistic"...

There is no "bare" or "basic" service option ?

For any Fiber broadband service using GPON technology you will require a GPON modem. So we are trying to help you minimize the amount of equipment you have by integrating the router functionality in this device as well.

But you do realise many people already have a router... There is no option for those ?
THe question is somehow rhetorical, as I've noticed that all the service providers kinda force down the customers throat a router even when one is not needed...

don't quite understand your purpose of asking, the zhone device is a all in one device (ONT + router + Wireless AP), fiber connection requires minimum of ONT which VQ is providing and required a rental fee (except for raptor bundle plans) whether u like it or not.

VQ did not force u to use their router function on zhone, u can use your own router. so be it basic or not, u can't get rid of the ONT.

Which site are you having problems with. Everything seems to be running fine on the US VPN. Am watching netflix now without any issues.

VQ, why change Fibernet 100 + Unlimited Voice + IPTV contract from 12 months to 24 months?

Would like to try these VQ services hence do not wish to sign 24 months
contract.

I hope VQ comes up with promo in March.

There are "no contract" plans as well only Fiber 200 and above.

the part with "whether u like it or not" is the one that puts me off... there's no flexibility in the service... competitors allow "free router" OR "first month free"... I kinda prefer the second option...

Every time I will tell my friends this.

Its the same like American Express Platinum, want prestige status and good service pay the annual fee, same goes for VQ.
Good things doesn't comes cheap or free.

if you are put off by the small $5 fee, u can always choose the other competitors, why hesitate in choosing which provider. others give u free months and considerable cheaper or lower rate, while VQ only give u one mth during the sitex promo.
