Hey Mac shushu, i'm quite curious why did AMD not implement sideport memory that they had been implementing on 785G chipset for HD 4200 IGP on the APUs to mitigate the performance bottleneck issue faced by current APUs? Perhaps including a 256-512MB GDDR5 chip on board could make these iGPUs shine like no nights tomorrow. =:p

I suspect cost is a issue. Having faster memory does indeed boost it's performance. Just clocking my Samsung green from 1600MHZ to 1866MHZ netted a 13% increase in FPS in SFIV (Benchmark).
Need to test others tomorrow.

Dunno, don't remember reading anything in the AMD Trinity guide released to us.

Maybe an attempt at lowering entry costs for a mainstream platform or perhaps other factors as speculated below,

AMD Trinity: Going Mobile with a New APU - Page 4

In the previous generations of AMD IGPs, before Llano came around, the Northbridge’s graphics processor had to jump through a series of hoops before gaining access to onboard memory which is partially why 128MB of “SidePort” memory was sometimes added. However, the APU’s single chip, all in one solution allows for the elimination of many potential bottlenecks.

Pity this pertinent qn was not raised at the AMD launch... you should have been there. :)

I should've PI'ed the A10-5700 long ago... kept waiting for local stock to try to support local retailers, but it's more than a month since the US started selling it.

bro amd boxed cpu are international warranty so there is no issue with PI if its cheaper.

support local retailer if they are competitive but not for sentimentality...

Cause including vPOST shipping, could take up to 2 weeks... I just didn't realise it would take THIS long for it to appear in the local scene. Annoying. :(

i recommend comgateway. using a posb/dbs card, free upgrade to express shipping. I got my shipment within 3 days after the amazon package hit my cgw address. was surprised it came so fast. but it could take a while long now that it's closer to christmas.

Yeah, it'll definitely be held up due to Chrismas and NY. Guess I can only wait further. Maybe try my luck when I hit BKK later this week.

Now waiting for the other AMD Trinity companion to arrive too, looks like this marks the end of my prolonged EOY break and a fresh start to 2013.

Finally, the A8-5600K lands in Singapore!

Some closer up shots... wah kor, this chip is actually labelled MIC and not Malay!

Next whacked it in the socket for a quick look see and... pengz, looks like MIC binning standard too, low ASIC leakage level.

Oh well nvm, still gonna try to push it nonetheless to see how it performs in real life.

How abt A10-5700? Ya, i m still waiting... :022:
AMD SG staff stated previously the order of arrival locally as 1st the 5800K then the 5600K followed by the 5700.

low leakage means cpu temp is real good but oc is bad. very good for uv running stock
So far, actually not too shabby despite the high stock VID. Kept to Vcore of ~1.5V so as to preserve the APU for a while longer and not kill it too fast like tonight... lol

PS: Anyone tried using Offset Vcore setting on this Asus F2A85-M Pro before? Tried 2 different sets of mobos and a few versions of the BIOS incl. the latest and no, Asus still hasn't gotten the Offset Vcore working properly till now. Haiz! :s8:

Are you having a FM1 rig and now considering going to FM2?

Else the comparison is pointless cos FM1 is already superseded by FM2 which is touted as the long term platform for AMD mainstream market. If you take a look at the local prices in SLS, FM1 discounted pricing and parts availability are not enough to consider it over the FM2. imo, just go straight to FM2.

btw if you do have a FM1 rig then just continue to use it like what I am doing for my personal office rig, mine is still a really nice quiet system esp after the SSD upgrade. :)
