Yes, VQ responded very promptly when the backlash on its initial new offerings were released and listened to various feedbacks, consulted with its subscribers, and re-release a new set of offerings to address its subscribers' and potential new subscribers' concerns (not all of them, but at least able to satisfy majority).

Once again, despite the occasions hiccups and whipping (once awhile backside itchy and needs to be whip) from the audiences/subscribers, VQ has been rather good on listening and responding. Till today, I too still recommends VQ to those friends and families who place quality of service above price. ;)

yup. the big 3 would never be so responsive.

Looks like the speed bump is in-place.

Please ignore the fact that my connection should be getting above 300Mbps but the speed test shows only 280+Mbps as the limitation is on the Cisco ISR2 1941 router I am using (max out based on the custom configuration with significant number of access controls that it is running).

Shouldn't the upload be 150mbps?

What is the process or steps required in going about downgrading or upgrading from Raptor 100 to one of the newer plans?

Supposed to be. Haven't determine if there is also limitation (upstream) due to my router. Sigh... Wish I can get hold of EdgeMax Lite router right now.

can remember this.. but can the Zhone run FreedomVPN in bridged mode?

Freedom VPN 2.0 should be launched very soon. From my understanding, it will also offer DNS based connection as well (like unotelly) so that should by pass concerns of running Freedom VPN via bridged mode.

Hope they launch it before my 3 month trial runs out to help me decide whether to continue subscribing FreedomVPN.

why is there a need to pay for VQ modem rental? VQ prices are already on the high side. Most ISP do not charge as rental but include this to the monthly cost.

So the only difference is VQW detail the rental on the invoice and the others don't.

Powerline Charts - Downlink Throughput - SmallNetBuilder

a warning to those who want to buy homeplugs..

the advertised 500Mbps are never true. lol

Just like Wifi, it's "PHYS layer theoretical best case" = "You'll never get our advertised speed".

I don't get paying hundreds of dollars for these homeplug / wifi solutions when it's considerably cheaper to get a cable / be cabled. It's like spending $60,000 on a $10,000 Honda instead of just buying the $40,000 BMW M3.

or could it be marketing tactic so that VQ does not look too expensive?

I'm always amused by the numerous "potential customers"* who complain about five dollars here, ten megabits there but clearly attach no value to the quality service they'll receive. If all that matters to you is $10-$20 difference per month then sign up with one of the big three and I hope you're happy with what you get. Personally I believe in paying for quality (you get what you pay for), attach a cost to quality rather than only caring about pennies.

* We must reserve judgement as to how many of these are real customers and how many are shills.

Bro, if your router cmi, dunno what can? :s22:

Strange that most routers except Zhone and Phil's Draytek cannot handle in excess of 300mbps decently on VQ. Maybe kellogs or somebody with the Edgemax might want to test it on VQ infra first.

So true.

People part with their money for what seems like a great deal. They forget why they wanted these specific speed in the first place. They see the glaring monthly difference of $10-$20 less for "speed" labels advertised; which they will very unlikely or never get. They get so mesmerized by the offer that they no longer consider if the provider will:

1. offer and strive to provide the bandwidth promised (there is a clear difference between "200Mb Speed" and "Up to 200MbSpeed") The latter is very easy to achieve.
2. detail all payable elements so that you know what you are paying for
3. provide personal tech support to help iron out performance issues
4. allow recontract/upgrade of subscription midstream to a better package
5. offer subscribers faster speeds than what they originally subscribed for
6. listen/act on subscribers feed back and complaints swiftly

All the above have been practically unheard of until VQ.

VQ, you have done well with me as a subscriber. I am impressed. Keep up the class act.

Please keep up the good work.
