Why pay using savings when u can pay thru credit card 1st?:s22:

didn't I read earlier post that even I use credit card to pay bill, I will not be awarded reward points? So what is the point? Delaying real payment? I just want to clear the outstanding bill.

My guess is delay payment and also to show the bank CC is being used.

ya but i dont see the point of delaying payment.... ultimately you still have to pay the bills off..... by delaying payment, it waste my time more...logging in again and pay bills etc....

to each his own

my sentiments exactly - fyi -I got a free year waiver (never before) offer from POSB everday card when I use the card to pay my brokerage thru ibanking.

Maybe he use the pay credit card option in IB which only can use savings account. Must use bill payment option then can use credit card to pay.

DBS(POSB) is the only one allowing bill payment(not fund transfer) to pay other banks' (almost all) credit card bill using its credit card foc thru ibanking

how long does it take for the payment to be reflected?

I have never use this method to pay- i will est 2-3(more?) working days for it to be reflected.
On the safe side, try out yourself -pay 1 week before due date(of other bank cc)(so u can estimate better in your next payment) and after statement date of posb/dbs credit card (to "maximise" delay payment)

abit of homework(calculation) here tho

Interest free. Let the bank shoulder your bills for as long as possible. Just dun overestimate the deadline and incur the wrath of 24% interest.

Think of it as a means to solve/ease free cash flow.

Imagine this: Your pay is coming in. You have already put the budget for it. Just need a little leeway until that amount comes in so that you can pay it all off.

You may argue that you have savings to use to pay off since you put in a budget for the item. However, there are a lot of people here who don't have cash rotting in accounts with pitiful interest rates. Nearly all cash is invested and even put into FD accounts.

Especially the people in the stocks subforum. No cash is left idling around.

Oy! Wrong idea to perpetuate. As my post above states, it is to ease free cash flow. Don't anyhow use or use for the sake of using it.

Think of it as an extension of an unssecured loan with zero interest fees.

interesting, what happens if another bank decides to follow suit and allow payment of DBS cc using their own cc? Possible to let the bounce payment back and forth until hit credit limit...

That is why I wrote "almost all banks cc":)

why not call up DBS to add citibank credit cards into its list??

wont happen la. their intention is to make you transfer all your other bank's cc debts to them. they want to earn that 24% when you default payments

Yup, i invested >99% of my money in stocks or bonds so left very little money for other things thus i try to use CC whenever possible, delaying payments is good for me so that i can delay cashing out my money from stocks and bonds.
