On a whim, I tried watching the Wolverine trailer on MR vs M1 LTE on the trailer app on a IPAD 4 (on a crowded MRT train during peak hours in the morning) and was stunned when M1 LTE buffered ahead well ahead of the playback and MR was too slow to allow continuous playback without stopping to buffer. I tested the same Ipad on both MR lines (PureHD at home & Pure in my office) and both had the same behaviour.....

I am truly stunned.....

hi, do you have the URL of the video? So I can try it?

if the Trailer app is connected to MyRepublic iTunes CDN servers 103.7.200.8 or 103.7.200.9, it is likely that your speeds are limited to 20Mbps.

Use NetStat to pinpoint the server streaming the content to your iPad.

For those experiencing slow speeds with MR on iTunes. Switch to MR's DNS.
1 gig download from App store in less than 3 mins.

My 3rd Day with MR ::
I really believe MR slowness in International Connection mainly due to MR Back-End problem. (ie: Routing/Available MR Bandwidth/etc) Last night I had compare side by with my Singnet ADSL 15Mbps line. Below is the results @ 9.30pm with Apple to Apple comparasion.. Same Laptop/Server

On San Francisco Server

2638529159.png

On Chengdu Server

2638498383.png

2638539616.png

Especially, you can see the latency of the Ping. :s11:
Used to envy my friend on MR network. But now for now... as singnet ADSL pawns MR for half the subscription fee :D

Hi nivleK1985,

Are you able to look into this matter as well? Thanks.:s22:

Lawzer/Bolt,

MR upload connection seems to be suffering badly those days though the download connection is no issue so far. Around 500++ kbps upload to either Mega or DailyMotion so far. Really no good. So can you please look into the matter and let me know.

Here is my MR customer id: C1003395

yeah, some downloads are way way way faster with MR DNS.
That's because iTunes make use of CDN(s) like Akamai. Akamai optimises downloads by using DNS lookup information.

So if you're using MR's DNS, it'll use the servers nearest to the region to have the download delivered to you.

There are cons and pros of using public DNS such as Google's and OpenDNS's

Which server is your iTunes downloading from, PetPet?

My PC is accesssing MR DNS servers: 103.11.48.126 & 103.11.48.190 as shown below.

but my download speeds in iTunes are :frus:

foyPTmr.png

124.155.223.126 is a StarHub Internet server.

C:\Windows\system32>tracert 124.155.223.126

Tracing route to 124.155.223.126 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms 172.17.0.1
2 3 ms 3 ms 3 ms 203.117.132.9
3 3 ms 3 ms 3 ms anatll10.starhub.net.sg [203.118.7.17]
4 4 ms 4 ms 3 ms 124.155.223.126

A different download from 203.116.50.48, also a StarHub Internet server, is even slower.

Oh I'm using the teleport DNS as my first entry. Followed by the the normal MR DNS.

Those who changed DNS. Remember to flush your cache or do a restart on your computer.

What's the IP of the Teleport DNS server - I wish to try if it improves my downloading speeds in iTunes.
