Hey Martxx,

No plans for a touchscreen monitor yet at the moment for the gaming systems, but we'll look into it.

Hi there please look into it. Reason being is Windows 8 really is better with touch screen. And cost of a touch screen laptop is not very high. Getting one will be more futureproof.

I was thinking of getting an aftershock pc but putting it on hold till i consider other touchscreen options.

Hey liftstrong. The systems are pretty well suited for both photo editing and video editing / processing. Gaming notebooks or workstation notebooks are simply notebooks with top notch specification. Not to mention the high color gamut screens which may be useful for your purpose, and SSDS (We have a free SSD promotion going now.)

Being able to game at ultra settings on the side is a plus of course :p

To be honest, I think having a touchscreen is not exactly a future proof option. I've seen people purchasing touch screen laptops, but don't really use the touch screens. On a gaming laptop, I think it makes less sense. My take is touchscreen is more applicable to tablets/ smartphones. Likely you won't be touching your laptop screen on the go like your mobile phone.

i have a ASUS S300. I work without my mouse after having a touchscreen :( (i am not really a touchpad person) - usually for other machines i rely alot on a mouse.

but i do agree for a gaming machine (if your primarily focus is on gaming) thEn a touchscreen really does not make much sense

I do agree its more of an individual personal preference, but to be honest, when I have a mouse right beside me, good chance I will stick to it when I am working and gaming. But yeah, my preference, mouse > touchscreen (for surfing net) > touchpad.

We do occasionally get users asking for touchscreen functionality in the notebooks, but to be frank, most of the feedback we get from users is that they either want to go with Windows 7 or they do not feel the need for the touch functionality. (Which may not be as comfortable to use in a larger and heavier DTR system.)

Could be something interesting in the future though.

I would go with Win 7 to be honest. Which is one of the reason I am considering getting an Aftershock laptop with Win7 or without OS. All other locally available brands all come with Win 8. But I think its worthwhile considering offering touchscreen as an option though. ;)

All other brands coming with windows 8 not surprising, they always follow the latest OS. I was lucky to have a free copy of windows 7 that i can install on my PC cos the windows 8 was rather frustrating to adapt to even after 3 months of use. The context-switching between the desktop and start screen is quite irritating, among other things.

On the topic of touchscreen I feel it depends how heavily you use apps in Windows 8 cos those are the main things optimised for a touch interface. Most of your desktop programs still feel more intuitive with mouse. I happened to be one of those who barely ever used a single Metro App at all frankly speaking.

I heard the future 15-inch (and probably 17-inch) clevo will have a 2nd mSATA slot but other than that it's likely going to be the same machine as currently just with the new haswell chipset. I guess if not urgent, why not wait since its only a few months time. Haswell may give more much-needed battery life to these already power-hungry machines.

I love windows 8 even without a touchscreen machine

I am different I guess :(

why are you guys complaining? because the UI is new or because you all cant stand changes and adapt it?

oh to note: I don't use the metro ui apps at all.

OS preference is of course subjective and differs from person to person. I don't see a need to adapt to windows 8 if i prefer windows 7 and windows 7 is still available to me. For my case, GUI preference aside, in the 3 months I used Win 8 I was still suffering from problems with programs that wouldn't work properly in Windows 8, including the Hotkey.exe (which controls things like the keyboard colour) which would occasionally keep encountering errors, a DWM that somehow consumes a lot more CPU than before in Win 7 and so on. I guess I'm not the type who can "adapt" to this.

I mean, even if you look around you can see statistics on the adoption rate for Windows 8 currently... 6 months after release I don't think its convincing anymore to argue that the issue may lie with people inability to adapt.

I am waiting. My take is considering how much a gaming laptop cost, no point paying that much to have it outdated in a couple of months time. ;)

But if you need it urgently, then there is no choice.
