Current active promotions are:
MSIG 25% off single trip & 10% off annual
Safra 20% off Travel Guard
OCBC 30% off if you pay via OCBC, 20% off regular
Citibank 30% off single trip
DBS 10% off Travellers Shield

as usual, apart from MSIG, all the other insurance from banks & safra are underwritten by some other insurance companies. do your due homework.

MSIG.

My DSLR lens was damaged during one of the HK rush hours, the pushing around caused my lens barrel to go loose.

MSIG honoured the claim.

Hi happydart, is it covered under the travel insurance or is it a separate plan?

Hi happydart, is it covered under the travel insurance or is it a separate plan?

It is under the Travel Insurance.
Maximum coverage per item is $500
Laptop - $1,000
Total coverage - $3,000

Thankfully my Lens and DSLR body are now worth ~$500 each only, so no loss for me in the event I get screwed over.

DBS' Travel Insurance is underwritten by MSIG , I just bought for my Japan trip. $4 more than buying direct from MSIG but comes with a free Adidas bag so I took that up.

$4 for an Adidas bag I could give to my nieces, sounds like a plan :p

I've not tried other insurers yet though.

:)

Thanks for the info happydart! Looking to buy a travel insurance but not sure if DSLR is covered.
My last one from Tenet appears to not cover it.

And yeah, I saw the adidas bag promo. That bag looks good for travel use too!
See it here

what's the difference in coverage between DBS promo and MSIG direct?

For my 16 days Japan, DBS promo was $4 more for the basic plan, for the premium plan (can't remember the exact name), it was cheaper compared to buying from MSIG direct.

Just play around with applications and do a comparison.
Gonna buy from either one again for my Perth trip end of June

Looked the same to me.

No worries SkimMilk :)
Gahhh that's one bag I wouldn't use.

for those of you who are traveling with foreign relatives, take note that MSIG does not insure them even if they are travelling with you. Their requirement is to that your relatives must be residing in SG, with valid passes.

My previous trip was insured by Tenet and they allowed me to insure my in law. Guess I won't be buying MSIG anymore.
