No reason, you should just stick with what you have. Probably join a few lucky draw and if you are lucky, you might just get a free laptop with Windows 8 :)

I don't need to, my existing hardware can install windows 8. just get the CD and install.

anyway, just did a check on the itunes download page, this is what is listed for minimum OS X requirements:
Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

seems like her old macbook would be able to handle this? OS X 10.6 is able to run even on the oldest of the Intel macbooks... (sorry, 10.5 was the last to run on PPC)...

I guess you wouldn't understand. Because iOS has NEVER run on Mac. :s13:

ok whatever it's call, new macbook OS on older Intel base Macbook then. it's forcing ppls to upgrade the hardware. so that it can drain more money.

Intel yes PowerPC no.
Apple have to set compile targets for the architecture, they drop PPC, and you don't have the source code.
Even if they did it might not run due to lousy hardware.

Yes, it's all Steve Job's fault. I'm glad he ain't around anymore. It's because of him that forces Apple users need to upgrade and upgrade and upgrade. What a chore. No worries, since he is not around anymore, it wouldn't happen anymore.

Sure... go ahead. I'm sure in time to come, you will find more and more laptops with sockets right ? Please be on your way move together into the 21st century. Is that really your argument that makes you not considering Apple Mac OS X laptop ? Because it's really quite a joke that in the mist of the whole discussion, you have to choose this point for discussion among all the rest.

Tell you what, don't bother. Stick with Windows. I'm sure that's the right choice for you and your chip from ebay. :) It's probably hard to put sense into a mule if it has to come to the point of discussing breaking apart your laptop and change the chip on the socket as a reason to stick with Windows. You might as well says the Windows stick logo looks better, I might just agree with it :)

Don't be surprise tons of laptop user are changing CPU, else how come there's so many ppl selling in ebay. Certain laptop model is make is such a way that it's easy to access the CPU compartment. just a few screw and you can see the entire heatsink covering the laptop CPU.

No worries, I'm convinced. Seriously... I am. In fact, I'm also convinced that Windows laptop are so powerful that not only they are good for productivity work, they make excellent frying pan too. Remove the heat sink, place your pan over it and in minutes you get nice looking golden pan fried eggs.

Yes I know. Microsoft is very accommodating. They know their Windows 8 sucks, immediately they hear the consumers words loud and clear. It means Microsoft is a people company, they hear all your comments, they react fast. No hassle. They make no mistake this time round, they are going to put back the EVERYBODY LOVED START button.

I can't believe Ballmer is so accommodating this time round. They revise so quickly, very responsive indeed. I think it's time I ditch my Mac and go for Windows 8.1

I would love to see the START BUTTON blimming into my eyes. :s13:

I think I wanna email Ballmer and tell him, I would like my START BUTTON in RED. I love it when it's RED. Attention seeking. I think I might tell him I want it bright red, perhaps following the pantone code 1807 (Ladybug Red)

Seriously are you trying to troll?
Intel laptops have different lines, you can choose low voltage cpus not necessarily high ends one.
Windows laptop != Gaming Laptop
In fact almost all laptops are Intel Laptops.
Just buy the cheapest and install Linux on it.

Am I ? If I have to agree with someone that Windows XP can run on IBM XT and that makes Microsoft Windows more superior in this sense, I might as well also include in other less known features of Windows laptop that they make good heat source for frying eggs right ?

yes, one of the reason, why should I pay so much more change the whole computer for faster system when I can pay lesser. why should i need to pay so much change system because the dame os don't want to support my existing hardware?

want faster, pay more. if for whatever reason u can't or won't, then u shouldn't. but there's only one reason why we pay more, to get better performance. U can put a new OS on old hardware but that will not be the optimal setup.

Seriously screw Apple and Microsoft they are both trying to coax money out of my pocket and force obsolescence on their customers.
They are business, I don't see why anyone needs to fanboy their products, just get whatever does what you want at the lowest cost and get on with life.
