N66U don't have repeater mode only AP mode. AP mode disable WAN options which means your USB disk only can Access VIA internal Network. Printer should work fine tho

Newbie Question on Setup

Dear All,

I need some help after purchasing a new RT-N66U yesterday. I was wondering what is the best extender/repeater to use to with my N66U that is install in my bedroom where my MiO TV & Computers are located. I would like the extender installed at/near my main gates/door for security reason. The distance is about 13 meter, but it will need to cross 3 rooms, 6 walls!!!

Does the N66 extender/receiver fit the purposes to connecting to a Camera?

BTW, where can I find the latest firmware.

BTW, I was told the Cat 6 cable that is "flat" is not good. The rounded ones are better because the "flat" ones are not shielded? It will introduce noise and reduce thru-put? Is it truth? I would like to run a 20 meter CAT6 to my living room and add a extender? Any recommendation beside N66? Any other brands beside Asus will work? or Asus is the "best" or have the best extender? Any limitation? limited thur-put with extender? Any real life data?

Thank You For your Assistance

For new subscriber, can but this at SGD209 (I cant remember this clearly, but around this price) at M1 shop

Or, Amazon now ship this directly to SG, USD149.99, add in shipping USD13.66, total is only USD163.65.

Don't forget there is no warranty if you ship from amazon!

U asking me put my printer from study room to the living room huh?

depend on what your priority.

cause if internet speed isnt your 1st priority, then your setup is fine.
Why i say that, when your bandwidth from your engenius router go through the homeplug, it can be only around 30-40Mbps (might be more but on average that is the speed). what your n66u router receive will be only 30-40Mbps.

So if your device that are connected to the n66u wireless or wired, your internet speed will only be around 30-40mbps. But those devices that are connected to n66u transferring file, u still can achieve high speed as it within the router.

So if u got PC connected to engenius via lan transferring file to PC connect to n66u via lan. bottom line will be limited by home plug speed although both are gigabit router.

Can amazon sell customers things without providing warranty? I thought, the Cons is only that you need to send it back to Amazon, that's all?

Anyway, I saw the option of adding 2 years warranty, only need to top up USD10+

I think what he meant is the router isn't covered by singapore distro in another words local warranty.

as per what u said, u need to send it back to amazon. and shipping here and there doesn't justify the savings buying from amazon.

Well, putting it this way yes they do but the hassle to send it back is quite a drawback

Help with RT-66U 5GHz

Dear All,

I would like to knows what setting to look out to set the 5Ghz channel. I've a macbook pro that is 2 years old and it has no issues connecting to the 5HGz or 2,4GHz, BUT:s11: my new HP Elitebook company laptop cannot connect to the 5GHz channel. It will work with the 2,4GHz channel only.

Any setting I need to look for changing to make it work?

BTW: any specific bugs with firmware 3.0.0.4.354 I need to be aware of? :)

Thank You All.
