ok guys ive decided to get the swans m200mk2...

hopefully will be able to get by either this week or next week!

:)

Congrats on the M200MKII. Swan is pretty good.

I bought the M200MKIII back in Apr and really love it to bit. I do a lot of research and test a few other brands, and decided to go with M200MKIII. Am a satisfied customer. Targeting to get DAC either this or next week. Maybe add in Senn HD650 or 800.

local lol

easiest. Saw that cybermind has the swans, so just gonna get it from there :s13:

Some online distributors sell cheaper in Swans, plus delivery cheapcheap. The speakers machiam 20kg gym weights. So cab or car is quite a necessity.

Btw since both are priced are the same, what is the differences btw m200mkII and m50? One is better imaging, reproduction as compared to another more bassy?

I'm still wondering what's the diff between mk2 and mk3, I've heard the mk2s cause one kind soul who has a set let me into his place to listen.

Any kind soul here can let me listen to your mk3s?? :)

The price difference is really alot man and I've never heard the mk3s so I don't know if the price difference is justified annot. But if it is, I'll wait a bit longer and jump onto that one. If not, I'll have to settle for the mk2 without knowing how good the mk3 will be haha

I mean, mk3 costs more than AE5 and I've heard the AE5 before. Just wondering if mk3 or AE5 better for that price range :(

Are the online distros local??

I've heard the mk2s only. M50 I've listened in the shop but it wasn't properly set up so I can't comment on it. Mk2 is very warm sounding and very smooth. Punchy bass. I would think the m50s are more all rounded cause of the sub. It can deliver the bass when needed. But my house conditions only allow me for the mk2. My room no space for sub and even if have, the wiring is gonna be a problem for me

Ya from Tech Dynamic. Local distro for Swans.

Oh okok. Then MK2 shall be more convenient due to their smaller footprint. Then probably use EQ to tune abit bass more or smth if lacking.

Ok thanks will go check that out

I think mk2 got bigger footprint lol. The size of each speaker is like wow boomz hahaha but the m50 the satellites quite small. Maybe you spread out your hand will be about that size? The sub also reasonably sized. I think if count overall could actually be the same as the mk2. Just how you want to position and spread them out only. Not to mention mk2 is rear ported so need about 1 foot of spacing behind each speaker

Apology, I didn't have any chance to try m200mkII. My intent was to try out M50W, and was surprised by what it can do. The sizes are good too. Imo, it should suffice for movie, if there is no intention for 5.1.

I then hear A5 and was wow by it. My usage is 80% music. So I decided to google more for A5. Read many nights on A5 and many people are comparing to M200MKIII. Then I bite bullet and go for M200MKIII. The comments are really positive imo.

May I suggest you try at Cybermind? I think they have it in store to test. I went last month to see M200MKIII, its there but wasn't up. It should be up by now.

Do note that M200MKIII is the most directional speakers I heard. Any position out of its range, you will hear differently.

Imaging? You mean the look?

no no hahha

imaging is something like how the instruments are positioned on the stage, like the vocals are in the middle, the guitarist on the left, the bassist on the right etc...

Good imaging means their positions are clearly defined.

Poor imaging means that they're pretty much a mess. You can't really tell where the vocals are and the instruments and all that.

Related terms are soundstage and instrument separation, though they mean slightly different things.

I still don't understand the meaning of "imaging" and "soundstage".

Hi guys,

looking for a speaker system to replace my 8 years old Creative I-Trigue 3400. Budget is about $250-350. Use for games, music, movies.

Should I go for amp+passive speakers or go for HK S3 or Kiplisch or Creative T3?

Thanks!!

i really dont understand how the T3 is good. the size is a plus point though.

klipsch i had before. its more balanced in terms of usage types. like a jack of all trades.

aego m is really good for music, satellites are really small too.

all this is only IMO. i cant stand monstrosities sitting on my desk. YMMV.

soundstage is the perceived width depth and height when you listen to the music.

good soundstage is quite wide without sounding too soft. you get this feeling that the sound is coming from beyond the speakers. As for depth, you feel as though there's more area behind the speakers where he sound is coming from.

may sound like gibberish but have your system properly set up and you can replicate what I'm saying here. Once you've heard it, you wouldn't doubt me.

Imaging is the perceived direction that the sound is coming from. If the imaging is good, you can hear the sound's direction very clearly, like for example a blank track with someone clapping his hand, it will sound as though he's dead centre. Poor imaging would be abit blurry. like you can tell generally he's in front of you but you can't point exactly where cause he seems to be in a rough area in front of you. I know it sounds weird cause i'm using adjectives for sight to describe sound and how we hear but it's analogous to how you see things and thats why its also called imaging.

Yes, you think i'm talking trash, but conduct a small experiment. ask someone to stand in front of you and clap their hands to a tempo while you close your eyes. You can still know exactly where they are. Ask them to, without telling you, move their hands a little to the left or right. You can still pinpoint what's going on.

That's what I mean by imaging. Speakers with good imaging you can really hear the vocals dead centre if they're meant to be there, you hear the guitarist clearly on the left, the bassist on the right (or however the song puts it. This is just an example and don't come telling me the guitarist can stand on the right too) and the drums behind the vocals. Soundstage is just how far left and how far right the person is standing.

Even better imaging would be replicating the audience clapping from the side you're sitting on and the music playing from your speakers cause the sound bounces off and makes you perceive as though the audience clapping is from behind or around you.

Sounds too good to be true? All I can say is that you got to hear it to believe it.
