Guys, need your inputs on this!

Japan’s public pension fund may allow its investment in domestic stocks to grow

Why does this strengthen the Yen against the Dollar? Anyone has any idea?

Here's the link just in case
Dollar Falls to Three-Week Low on U.S. Economy; Volatility Rises - Bloomberg

PS: A newb here trying to understand the whole correction phase Japan is going through.
Because fund managers would need more Yen to buy domestic (i.e. Japanese) stocks and so they buy up the Yen.

eh got meh?
i see like very slight marginal increase to the point of "no feeling" - i mean the dpu. i mean the total distribution increase but their no. of units also increase...

i heard they opening another mall in 6 mths time with full occupancy forgot that mall name. later check no. of units issued increased again. of coz the shares price would grow in tandem.

You want to have more "feeling", then you have to own more lots because the DPU increase is marginal.

A few lots will not have a big "feeling".

Anyway, the price has also increased over the past 5 years.....:s12:

2011 had lots of storms. :s22:

- Japan earthquake/tsunami/nuclear fallout
- Middle-East Spring revolution
- Euro Debt Crisis at Greece
- USA Credit Downgrade

But it was also the year when my portfolio grew by leaps and bounds.....

Reaping the rewards now! :s12:

Is it because you bought the stocks at a low price and rode through the storm even when the prices fell?

Yes. I rode through the storm. :)

Back then, my portfolio was still in the growing stage, so I guess I was more willing to buy more than sell. Besides, the yields back then were pretty yummy. =:p

Now, the situation is slightly different. My portfolio has reached a critical mass and stabilised. So, I can afford to be more selective. :D:D

“Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” - Warren Buffett

Investment is a long term (or short term) plan with clear goals and objectives. It's not a hit-and-run buy today sell tomorrow kinda deal, that is called speculating/gambling, winning or losing depends on your luck. Properly putting your money where your money is worth to meet your goals is the real investment. Watch and learn from old birds here, there's always something new to learn from them. :o

OMG........:eek::eek:

Don't worry, less than 10% of his portfolio... :s13:

The lessons I learnt from this week of corrections is: Timing, Holding Power and Guts. Have them and with sufficient homework done, it''s the 1st step to success!
