Without AVX, load temps are significantly lower - compare HyperPi vs LinX DTS temps.

HyperPi 32M

HyperPi_4670K44GHz_1866C9_AdaptiveVcore_8m3sCopy_zps734c5a9c.png~original

HyperPi 32M - 74C
LinX Stock Run - 87C
Difference = 13C

So the 10-15C gap for AVX instructions still holds true, ever since the days of Sandy Bridge. :)

PS: took more effort/volts but managed to run core:uncore at 1:1, this sweetspot o'c seems holding quite solid so far

Riptbot264

Max DTS load temps noted, for comparison

Ripbot264 - 78C
xvid4PSP - 76C (posted earlier)

Note - both Ripbot264 and xvid4PSP had the transient Vcore swing (to 1.272V) which the Asus guide attributes (?solely) to AVX instructions being used somewhere. ime, so far LinX AVX produces the highest DTS load temps.

Yup, it seems that if a CPU is a K series then TSX is not present. However two non-K CPUs don't have TSX as well: The i5-4330 and i5-4330S. I got my information primarily from this table here:

Core i7-4770K: Haswell's Performance, Previewed : Core i7-4770K Gets Previewed

Unfortunately it's a piece of information that not many sites cover.

I think Intel is causing quite a bit of confusion with their products like this, as what SKU has TSX or not is quite arbitrary.

From that page it looks like as long as it has a "-70" post fix and no k it has TSX. I cant understand why they want to disable this feature though, TSX is something you want to have widespread adoption of, otherwise its probably better to stick to a software implementation of TSX... which is what people are doing now anyway

Uncore Frequency
In Haswell, there exists the option to unlink the cache (so called uncore) frequency from the CPU core frequency so looks like got to include the monitoring info in hwinfo from now onwards.

After consulting the Asus OCgasmic Kamasutra and other more experienced Haswellers to attain enlightenment where some categorically states "Core Frequency is still King!"... OK, back to testing and so prepare to Unsync That Uncore, tada!

As can be seen, this is still not the end of testing cos now trying to find a sweetspot for that uncore next. :)

Can i ask whats the max you can overclock while keeping max temperature below 70 degree?
Wrong platform if you want to o'c and stay below 70C max load, unfortunately.

My AMD Richland sharing thread should be incoming real soon though. =:p

Seems kind of weird findings so far, hope others can try out uncore scaling and post their feedback too. Looks like Core Frequency is really still king and the stock uncore speed is already fast enough to feed the core at 4.5GHz. :)

We're in Singapore! If Revision 2 comes out you simply build a new rig for Internet surfing in August. :)
