Master = Higher Degree = Post Grad.

Not here to spoil your plan. If u check out the university admission websites, u will notice that the minimum prerequisite is actually a Bachelor degree. A Bachelor degree does not warrant you a spot in the local Master programmes unless you have performed exceedingly well in academics, and have a few years of related working experience to back you up (unless you are 1st class honor or equivalent)

Don't waste ur time, go for a Bachelor first. :)

Yes. For some Oz uni they accept diploma with working experiences.

How these postgraduates fare outside after graduation is another matter altogether.

So far I've only seen 1 case with relatively decent success for it. The others are still grumbling as if the society owed them a living

Some Australian universities do consider experience and/or professional qualifications as a prerequisute, though on a case-by-case basis.

OT many years ago I remembered there was an Australian masters degree course being recommended to engineering diploma graduates. I was given a brochure but forgot which Uni was it. Anyone knows?

possible.

but whats the point?

you go for interview and the HR or interviewer sees a msc without a degree and he's gonna discount your degree immediately.

duno about UOL, but to even start pursuing a postgrad cert, most uni will still need the applicant to have a degree

you wouldn't b given a chance for an interview in 1st place if they mind dont having a bach degree... just a suggestion to TS.. get the bach degree then proceed with masters... saves you alot of trouble...

is it for law only? for what i know, UOL needs applicant to have a bach degree for its postgrad progs and they are quite strict on it. even the diplomas for graduates (the way they called it) offered in SIM require applicants to have a bach degree completed in a minimum of 3 years.

dun get the logic.

if can jump from dip -> master,
why ppl say waste time? cos if go degree then master, even more waste time right?

Or during master level, the learning is very similar?

If think they mean don't waste time trying to look for such a lobang as the likely outcomes are:

(1) Not being able to find such a programme - hence waste of time searching

OR

(2) Being able to find a programme, but one that is not really recognised, hence doing it will be a waste of time as well.

LLM - Postgraduate Laws (LLM, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate) | University of London International Programmes

Under the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules, the “qualified person” requirements generally include having read an approved law degree as a “full-time internal candidate” for at least 3 academic years at an approved university (i.e. a university that is listed in the First, Third, Fourth or Fifth Schedules to the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules.

cant be called to the bar iirc

U have misinterpret the requirements:

Requirement 1:
"Obtained either the Common Professional Examination or an equivalent Diploma in Law where in either case the applicant has also obtained a Second Class Honours degree of a UK university (or an educational institute of university rank) or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard obtained after a course of study extending over not less than three years in a university (or an educational institute of university rank)."

Requirement 2:
"Obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in law from a College or Institute of the University of London"

--------------------------
For Requirement 1: On top of having a Diploma in Law, you are still required to have a degree in other fields.

For Requirement 2: Postgraduate Diploma is a postgraduate qualification awarded after a bachelor's degree.

In either requirement, you are required to have a bachelor degree.

We can start with the post grad certificate 1st.. you dont need the degree...
