Haha! Bro I'm really confused already! :( oh well ~ I'm just afraid of the lag if I get Samsung.

Bro

Based on what I see from your needs, my personal opinion is that u get the Note 8. Look at post #5, #10, #12 & #18.

I have a Galaxy Note 1. With the S-pen and the associated featured apps, build in or otherwise, it is gr8 for taking notes and such. I using it for taking notes during meetings and lectures.

With the current specs of the Note 8, it'll be a smooth experience. I was drooling at the Note 8 but the current Nook offer was too much to resist. Although there is a difference in some features/functionality.

Cheers :D

For maximum operability and transfer of files, etc, go for Android. Cos as a student, you will need to transfer files often, edit and transfer out to a desktop or laptop to print, etc... hence the open architecture of Android is more suitable. If you're really just into paid content consumption, the iPad is a better device.

Seriously?!?
Just point out if you are a fan of Samsung. That'll fix things in your statement.

First and foremost. I'm a Windows user myself and I have multiple devices like Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface RT, Nokia Lumia 920, iPad Mini, Asus Transfromer, Lumia 900/800, HTC Trophy 7.. and the list goes on.

If you are going for Android, I seriously urge you to reconsider. After having Asus Transformer which lag from day to day basis in terms of usage to the point where as an app developer myself I prefer iOS over Android's openness and convenience. (FYI, I have Android 4.2 installed JellyBean.)

For the money that you save on Galaxy Note 8 $300, its not worth it over the iPad Mini SRP of $600. You get what you paid for.

Microsoft Surface Pro/RT is still my everyday driver with Word/Excel. And the iPad mini as a complementary device.

wah wtf ! did your android tablet just blew up and killed your whole family ? :s13:

if there is a medal for fanbois , you would be awarded the medal of honor liao .

TS should just buy ipad mini , at least give some credits to this medal of honor guy for typing so much hehe

1 2 3, 3 2 1, apple apple number 1! :s13:

thanks, thanks. :s22:

wow. really anti-droid sia u :s13::s13::s13:

anyway, i must first declare i'm android fan but not fanboy. tablet-wise i use an ipad, while my own phone is a samsung s3. for work, i stick to a windows computer. the way apple regulates their apps and devices (severe restrictions) really turns me off

what you said about iOS' better apps (in general) and the threat of malware on android plus google's daily ads are all true. but i thought to myself, did your tablet experience get negative because of hardware?

i put off buying a droid tablet myself because i was not convinced by the quality available, even to the extent of samsung note 10.1 or tab 7.0. i've used both devices and also some other brands (toshiba droid tablet in the early days, asus and acer tabs too) and i found the response to lag if compared to apple's ipads.

so, what do you think, in your capacity as a dev? i've been waiting so long for a no-lag droid tab to come along and the nexus 7 is the closest to what i've been looking for.

p.s. i'm starting to dislike app store also. i bought some apps and games, but now there's in-app or in-game content which must be purchased further. pay money upfront isn't enough. now must pay to keep using if i want to derive maximum utility from the app. sianz!!!

The Asus Transformer is actually the best hardware I can get when Android tablet is just launched in Singapore ~1.5 year ago which I spend ~900 SGD. I am probably better off with a notebook.

Up till now I still don't see any reason why I should get another one again despite having the latest version of Android and even flashing multiple roms over the years..

I'm not even a heavy gamer, those lags in graphic intensive 3D games doesn't affect me at all. But come on, normal scrolling in home screen, through apps, UIs are beyond redemption.

but seriously....
end of the day is user problem.

my aunty hated her ipad and wanna change to samsung tablet because of all the restriction within the OS.
the simplest copying a video file into the ipad itself is rocket science to her.

the only apple product i owned is the first generation ipod touch 8gb and my current pc (mac mini).
The rest is Android device. (s3 and note 8.0), and iam loving it.

If you intend to take notes + multitasking, then I think it's a no brainer to get Note 8 in my opinion.

Yes yes multitasking will be very useful for students. Email + chat + documents opened at the same time = best for research / project work.

Why it's a no brainer to take note on note 8.0?

Just wondering what app to use for Apple ipad?

To TS. It's never ending listening to our advice listing the pro and cons of each device.

All are based on individual past opinion and past experience. It can be a perception and stereotyping which blocks and affect the and your purchase behaviour. Everyone just here bashing each product brand.

Go for something you need and buy which one influenced you more. Go try the display set. Surely there's one interest you more.

get an android, u will not regret. or if u wanna hear from those fruit fans, go to the ipad forum, The iPad Sanctum - www.hardwarezone.com.sg, and see how they advice to u.

anyway, if u ever notice, some of us here actually have both android tablets and also a fruit device, and the android is mainly for work and the fruit is merely for leisure. OR if u have money, get the Microsoft Surface Pro (never get the RT), then you shouldn't have any worries except that it can't make calls.

oh yeah, there is a new petite windows tablet from Acer which i saw at Challenger. Maybe that's good for work too. But you are right, if we really wanna a tablet for work, maybe neither android nor ios is good enough, but ought to get a windows machine e.g. samsung ativ smart pc or thinkpad tablet 2.

Android is more friendly, can share via Bluetooth, direct WiFi, memory card, otg sub, etc. IPad mini? It's selfish...

Contradicting ?
FYI, I am not even an Apple fan. As I've said, this is my secondary device aside from Surface RT/Pro.

Also, Microsoft Surface RT does everything far better than both Android and iOS combined in terms of memory, Bluetooth, USB mouse/keyboard hardware support, Microsoft Office, Full flash support, full EAS support in the system, etc..
If you want to tell me why this is bad, proof your point.

Surface RT is good only because it have full office suit and desktop IE capabilities.
The concerning factor still apps.
RT window store apps still couldn't compare to what andriod and ios offer.
Further more surface RT is still heavier than ipad mini and note 8.0
