What if I am searching for TV, or any other two letters word?
bro, TV simi?
tv repair?
tv program?
tv schedule?
What if I am searching for TV, or any other two letters word?![]()
Dear Member,
Thank you for your feedback. A minimum of three characters are required for searching to reduce server load and provide proper filters. Searching "in" for example, will turn up countless threads with the word "in" in it.
As advised by member chesterqw, you should key in more specific terms in your search queries.
Thanks for the reply. Like I mentioned in my previous post above, the system will filter away my word 'tv', generating unnecessary results. For example, if I am searching for TV Repair like chestereq mentioned, the results would be:
![]()
Which almost none of it is related to what I am searching.
HWZ already limit 15 seconds delay between searches to reduce server load, I don't think this should be included with addition to that.
Moreover common words were also filtered (Can be more than 2 letters), etc HTC One, the common word 'one' will be filtered, only left with HTC, and users hav to filter themselves again...
Does removing of common words and 2 letter words from the limitation leads to serious server problem for hwz?
It did in the past, hence that restriction and yes, we're aware of common words being filtered out. It's a deliberate and necessary need when you've a site that garners traffic like ours.
However, the workaround is to use the global search that's built into the top floating bar. That uses the Google search index to give you relevant listings and not a direct VBB search on our own servers:-
Search Results - HardwareZone.com.sg
Meanwhile, we'll reconsider re-tweaking the VBB forum search as the last bandwidth check was done a long while ago.

beejay ish here
Hokay, shall use google search index for the time being.
Please do consider re-tweaking the forum search![]()
