True, and I used to have Ativ book 8, about the same depth as this model, and the sound is very sweet to my ears. And yea many laptops do have crappy sounds, probably because most manufacturers don't see the point to invest in higher quality speakers when external options are widely available. Most consumers prefer laptops under 1K, and cheap speakers will further bring down the cost. Heck, even a lot of high end gaming laptops don't have good sound! Still, people more jacka** like me carry laptops around a lot, so external speakers won't do me decent jobs.

Yeah i also feel that way. Carrying portable speakers add up to the weight and the dynaudio speakers is just as loud or louder than razer ferox which i sold it when i got the msi gt60. I also don't really like headphones or earphones as they make my ears feel tired or fatigue after some time.

I think the audio on the msi is the deal breaker for me. Shortly after i bought the alienware m17x and compare them both. The dynaudio is still slighty better but the alienware sounds good n loud too at full volume without distortion.

Not much laptops on the market now can crank up loud music or sound at full volume and sound good with clarity without distorting.

Yes, his kB seems ok according to his photo.
Ok, I just called the service centre, was told maybe it is faulty, CSO told me to bring it down to check. If repair is needed, it will take a week. I can't leave my laptop there for a week.

Maybe we can just send it get diagnose and then wait for the parts to come in before sending in?
Don't think they need one week to fix a keyboard.

My Asus G73's keyboard could be fixed on the spot back in 2011 when I went for servicing. If a keyboard needs a week I think you guys should at least seek out an explanation from them...

True dont think need a wk. Probably the cso just being cautious. He did mention if mobo fautly. Do u think thr kb led lights r embedded on the mobo?

Maybe I drop by next wk to hv it checked.

If u look closer, each key has led at each of the 4 corner. Mine mostly 2 bottom corners r not lit.

1. So I heard that opening the back cover will void my warranty, so it is not possible to replace the hard drive and any internal components in case something goes wrong?

2. How is it compared to the Dynaudio? Why didn't MSI use Dynaudio in this model?

3. How is the audio compared to the JBL system on ie. Lenovo y510p and Samsung ativ book 8?

Just to help to clarify:

1) Opening the back cover will not void the warranty. It just tell us that user have open it before, and we will look for possibility of items that have been changed. Items that have been changed will not be covered under warranty. Other warranty will be intact

2) GS70 did not use dyna audio as the chasis is too thin for it to make sense. dyna audio is found in the GT series. They are VERY much better than BEATS, JBL, Bang and Olfusen. We have the demo in our showroom. Can try out side by side for you to check out. :)

3) As GS70 did not use dynaaudio, it might not be as good as some other gaming models. But for its thin chasis, the audio is actually very decent and much better than many laptops around.

By the way, we are the authorized MSI service centre.

MSI service centre is operated by our
Laptop General Hospital in Funan #04-26. Thus we are able to give you definite answer for your question 1. :)

Do we have to wait one week to get the keyboard repaired? That's too long. :(

Just curious, do you sell the super raid pcb adapter for the gt series?

Here are some pic of my KB's LED.

Full view; not sure is it supposed MSI builds the shift, ctrl, tab enter keys dimmer or they are faulty.
However definitely the F7-F9 is not supposed to be like this.

Enter key

Just to check, I realised that the LEDs on the keyboard keys are not evenly bright (from certain angles)?
F7-F9 seems to be dimmer. Is that normal? :(

Ok, same for me..... thanks to your post I just realised... lol.

Not the best pic I know, but yeah, the same keys are not lit, and on top of that, altho I chose the lightest whitish blue colour, the extreme left bottom corners showed greenish.... lol.

wtf, yeah we have the same lighting problem leh....
For those keys (shift, ctrl, alt, enter) on both sides of the main keys (q,w,e,r,t), they are dimmer.

But for F1, F7, F8, F9 & F11 & spacebar are they supposed to be dimmer?

Better ask the laptop clinic to help us check before we bring down. Maybe they should clarify with msi.
This issue maybe is all across the board and cannot be solved. Maybe designed this way. :(

Keyboard issue aside. This lappy rocks!
Been playing Bioshock, Grid2, Tomb Raider, Starcraft 2, all at full HD. Most of them with highest settings and framerates are still good. :)

For the sound, the surround feel is not as good as JBL but I am beginning to get used to the Msi sound. Bass is weak but overall the sound is not too bad. At least on part with overpriced macs. So I am not complaining.

Anyway to set profiles for sound settings?

Will experiment with oc next.

...
But the 2.1 speaker system advertised doesn't prove to be an advantage. The bass is like no bass....
Maybe I didn't enable it? Do we even need to enable it? :)

Subwoofers is really about marketing. A number of laptops, including Sager, includes a subwoofer, but reviews have shown that sound quality decreases even further with a subwoofer. I wonder why they even have it there in the first place...A laptop without a decent sound system is not going to mysteriously crank out good sound with the addition of subwoofer..

Yeah i also feel that way. ....

Thanks for your piece of advice. I think I now know what I am getting into. The sad thing is that Alienware looks way to funky to carry around especially for business meetings. And Its logo is...kinda not a very good idea to flash it around too much :)

...

GT series' bulkiness make them look monstrous, making them seem like primarily for desk use, not for laps. Methink it would be better to invest in desktop speakers than to go for the GT series.

My Razor wannabe...
I like MSI but somehow the Razer green is so cool!
On my keyboard, F1, F7-F9, F11, INSERT, DELETE,ALT, CTRL and Spacebar is not lighted properly.
