I have a slim external.... but honestly I hardly use the drive in the first place. Even my PC doesn't have an optical.....

Probably only inconvenient if you use the drive a lot and are frequently on the go which makes it more troublesome to carry external dvd drive.

Did any one do any overclocking test on the GTX 765 yet?

Just to check, I realised that the LEDs on the keyboard keys are not evenly bright (from certain angles)?
F7-F9 seems to be dimmer. Is that normal? :(

To be honest, you know the answer best. Really depends on your usage. For most, with or without the ODD, it makes very little difference since everything can be downloaded or installed from a flash drive.

For me, I prefer to have it since I will use it to watch my Bluray discs in the room. But I can do without it just fine too.

1. So I heard that opening the back cover will void my warranty, so it is not possible to replace the hard drive and any internal components in case something goes wrong?

2. How is it compared to the Dynaudio? Why didn't MSI use Dynaudio in this model?

3. How is the audio compared to the JBL system on ie. Lenovo y510p and Samsung ativ book 8?

Yes. true

Never heard Dynaudio before so cannot comment.

I used to own the Y500. Sad to say, JBL wins.

omg... my first MSI laptop too.
Probably i give MSI service centre a call later see what they say. If really faulty, then it kinda disappointed with MSI QC.

Sad to say that this might be the dealbreaker. People have been saying this laptop is not "truly portable," sound system is not that good... sound brings out the soul of a laptop as I would call it. Even more sad how MSI downgrade the audio system from the best to mediocore at best.

Dynaudio is only available on the higher end gt60 or 70 series.

Depends on how u use the laptop.
I like the weight and size as its similar to my old mbp 17 which I tugged around on my biztrips.
I am using my Bluetooth headphones or portable speakers so its ok.

But the 2.1 speaker system advertised doesn't prove to be an advantage. The bass is like no bass....
Maybe I didn't enable it? Do we even need to enable it? :)

If sound brings out the soul of laptop then i think most laptops in the market would be soul-less already....

frankly i dont think its fair to say that the portability depends on the sound quality. Sound is more of a performance factor and good sound, just like high graphics performance tends to come at the expense of portability. Its just like how msi could 'only' stick a 765m inside and not 770m or 780m

besides, external and even portable audio devices are easy to connect to any laptop. You cant say the same for many other things like external graphics or external power source

True, and I used to have Ativ book 8, about the same depth as this model, and the sound is very sweet to my ears. And yea many laptops do have crappy sounds, probably because most manufacturers don't see the point to invest in higher quality speakers when external options are widely available. Most consumers prefer laptops under 1K, and cheap speakers will further bring down the cost. Heck, even a lot of high end gaming laptops don't have good sound! Still, people more jacka** like me carry laptops around a lot, so external speakers won't do me decent jobs.

If im on the go, i make do with earphones since most public places are too noisy and drown out speakers anyway so its not like i can even hear the quality.

I dont really know which portable speakers are the 'good' ones since i never bought any

Yes, his kB seems ok according to his photo.
Ok, I just called the service centre, was told maybe it is faulty, CSO told me to bring it down to check. If repair is needed, it will take a week. I can't leave my laptop there for a week.
