hello peeps, finally managed to get a brand new samsung note3 from challenger at installment basis. Gonna ditch my going to 3 years iphone4 for good.

wooot... what are some of the things i must do now?

do some factory reset? how to do it? can some kind souls guide me along pls.

Welcome to the Android Community!

To do a factory reset, go settings > my account > backup and Reset > factory reset.

Personally after the factory reset, I go to Application Manager and start disabling the extra bloatware like Chat On etc.

Google up before you disable anything as you could end up disabling shared services etc.

After that I'll do some basic customization by installing my own launcher like nova or apex launcher and custom keyboard like SwiftKey or Google Keyboard.

I suggest you try the trial version first.

In fact samsung's stock keyboard is powered by SwiftKey as well. It's just less adaptive when compared to SwiftKey imo.

Google Keyboard is quite decent as well and more similar to iPhone. You might want to give that a try as well.

What we all want you to try is the continuous input function. Makes typing so much faster after you get used to it!

Yes! thats the one i enquiring about. Mine don't have that hand adaptive option. Only those check boxes.

The hand adaptive allows the phone to "sense" which hand holding if one hand and move the keyboard automatically.

I duno why my note 3 don't have =(

YES. mine dont have too. but the demo sets which i was playing at the samsung stores have it! anyone knows why?!

Woah battery life is actually very good after the first day where battery is mostly drained out by syncing.


And well.. note3 keyboard usage is alot better than s3. Haha I get alot of typo errors on s3!

Go into My Magazine app -> settings and disable "Press home key to launch My Magazine" option.

Samsung normally have stock when they release their units...
U will not see like Fruity brand whereby the Gold Color could jack its price by 1.5X

when N2 launched last year, after the official launched date, it went OOS till 3 weeks later.

And furthermore the price is kept high at 998 - 1000 in retail stores.

i couldn't find any in the retailers then LLST have to buy from Samsung Stores which costs 1000 (mbs)

now we see the price has dropped from 1048 to 948 in retail stores. Another place i passed by, they are retailing at 800+ with local warranty.

I don't think so, this time Samsung SG flood the market.

As adix said, last year he only get like 10 sets liao. This year a lot more from the looks of it.

Samsung also said that the overall pre-order was higher then last year when compared to Note 2.

I think the latest samsung keyboard may have incorporated some Swiftkey elements. The prediction is miles better than it was on Note 2.

Only thing that could be better would probably be the punctuation.... in Swiftkey you hold the punctuation key and it brings up a box of commonly used symbols and you just slide to the desired one and it will enter that and the box disappears. On this version of Samsung keyboard, it doesn't behave that way sadly....

I like how the numbers are the secondary (long press) on the Swiftkey... reminds me of the goodness that was the BlackBerry keypad
