Dinner buffet @ Windows On The Park

It was a little disappointing as the black pepper crabs are flower crabs (less meat, not as firm). It used to be those meaty sri lanka crabs. Some of the better dishes are cereal prawn, pumpkin croquette, chicken with salted vegetable soup, ee fu noodle, belachan beans, dark and white chocolate cake, durian penyat and coconut ice cream. With deal vouchers at $32 nett/pax, i guess we cant expect too much. :s8:

This buffet not for human to eat one! Taste really cmi!

It used to be pretty decent initially, during the 1st 50% off promotion. I've returned to eat a few times. However, for my recent visit, its quite disappointing. :(

Fresh lobsters? Most are frozen and served cold LOL

Last time i remember got one promo where the chef would blanch the lobsters on the spot but think no more

In my many years of eating buffet with unlimited lobsters, the number of restaurants serving hot lobsters can be counted with one hand only.

1. Regent Hotel. Many years ago. Charcoal Barbequed. Lobster festival, so lasted only a few days.

2. Triple Three. This was also many years ago before they shifted to their current level. Served in bamboo steamers. The only place where I ate a female lobster full of tiny eggs on the outside. Surprising cause this is banned in the US.

3. Nikko Hotel. Unfortunately, this is in Ho Chi Minh City. Extremely worth it. Thanks to Toons for this excellent recommendation. Anyway, wonder where is he? Not back from his Taiwan trip yet? Forum a bit quiet without the buffet king around.

4. Greenhouse. Only one I can think of at the moment in Singapore. Will only go on Friday and Saturday dinner when they serve boiled lobsters. Else, no point going cause their other buffet fare is nothing to shout about and not worth the price one have to pay.

Here is one I hope to visit if I visit New York next time:

Stars at RWS. $&@#%€£¥. First and last time. Lucky Shalome lent me her RWS Invite card so got 1-for-1 but even with the promo, it's not worth it. Hardly any stand-out dishes. Slow in clearing plates or replenishing stuff. The joke was the wasabi. Buffet started at 6.30pm. I went at 7pm and the wasabi was out. One kuku stand in front of the woman at the raw fish counter for a good 10 mins and she keep going in and out, but no wasabi in sight. I got pissed too after a few rounds of taking things back to my table but the wasabi still yet to be replenished, so told another guy at the different counter. He went in, got the wasabi out and the woman tries to scoop some out, and in her own words as I have heard, to ration as its running out. What a joke.

I was not the one waiting. I went to get other stuff while checking on the wasabi. It got to the point when it's getting ridiculous when the one at the counter is obviously not going to do anything about it.

It is. Things run out. Like ice cream toppings, cups for ice cream, chilled prawns etc. Dirty plates stacked on a table near the ice cream. Gosh. Shouldn't it be taken to a place out of sight to customers? Spread is limited. The best thing that night was the lychee gelato. Followed by the fish n chips. I had quite a good experience at Festive Hotel with their appetizer and dessert buffet but they closed at the start of the year. :(

I went there for dinner on weekday (Friday) night and for me it was good. Service was also excellent from one manager. I love the foie gras on the chawanmushi although must take the first round as suggested by one friend. The other round, the foei gras got thoroughly soaked in the sauce and became a bit more salty. Must mixed thoroughly with the chawanmushi and eat.

I like their noodles and pork cheek (?) Desert was also good (the chocolate cake) and chocolate ice cream. The pomelo and other fruits. The wasabi never run out when I was there.
