Hi Aftershock,

I've been experiencing an odd problem with my XG15.

When I run BF3 while my com is plugged into the power main, the screen brightness keeps alternating between high and low.

After a little exploration I found that this problem stemmed from the power supply. The computer kept registering it as on-off-on-off as if someone kept flicking the power switch at the power main.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

I should add that the stock power adapter that came with my unit has ceased to function and that I have replaced it with an adapter with the following specs:

Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5A 50/60Hz

Output: 19.0V 4.74A

The replacement in question is the LOGIK LNP90W10.

Is it incompatible with the XG15? I notice the power problems tend to come under higher loads.

Hey Karbum,

The power adapter of the unit is covered under the warranty, If there is an issue, you can get a new one issued from us.

Do let me know so we can assist. It'd be better to stick with the stock adapter. :)

The risk of overheating when a notebook is placed on a soft surface is not high.

It's definitely going to overheat.

I agree that it wont really overheat.

for myself, i still get a cooling pad regardless. it certainly helps to reduce the times and duration my fan have to rage.

Aftershock. I have a question.

I'm looking at the xg13 over the 15 cause its more portable. Bringing to school won't be such a hassle as compared to the asus g70 - 4.5kg monster. For 2.2k I want to ask, will battlefield 4 work in it? (Won't expect high but medium at least?)

And another issue is I always play games whole day. Never let it rest. So heating becomes an issue. How would u remedy this problem cause 6 hours straight of gaming is no joke on the laptop, sooner or later there will be molten metal. Any options here u recommend? I'm quite close to making a decision between the asus g70 and xg13. Convince me man

Hi Matt,

We'll be doing BF4 beta videos on the XG and X Line tommorow. Stay tuned for the videos. From what we've seen so far, 765M should meet your expectations :) On top of that, BF4 is still being optimized.

Our gaming systems are designed to be run for long hours as a testament to that, the units at our funan showroom are not displayed with the typical wallpapers you see in showroom units, but an actual game running from morning to night.

We're using the stock clevo drivers still :)

But for the purpose of BF4. we plan to test 331.40.

An update - The first of our BF4 test videos, this one on the XG13

Well, I've been testing with the Older X11 with the 331.40 Drivers and giving it a chance for the game. It stutters quite a lot in 1366 x 768. However, I made some changes to make the game a lot more manageable. I've yet to do a recording of it which I'll do so tonight. But you'll have to go below the laptop's native resolution in order to make it playable.

1024 x 768 - High Presets
1280 x 720 - Medium Presets
Turn off both HBAO and Anti Aliasing

Now I wouldn't recommend using these settings on a bigger screen because of the resolution changes. However, within the native screen of the X11, the resolution change won't appear that bad of a difference.

Then again, this being a BETA, I would definitely foresee some further refinements in the drivers in future.

We'll do a more in depth test of 331.40 when the Official WHQL version is out, since both BF4 and 331.40 are merely in beta now.

Aftershock PC. Does the xg13 require an external dvd drive? No right, I read from somewhere about the xg11. No DVD drive can't play DVD games mol. BTW, any upcoming promotions for he xg13, based on recommended specs.

I believe hes using a 650m GT 2GB DDR3, With an 11" screen. By X11, hes not referring to Direct X, but our last gen X11 notebook that has already been discontinued.

Yeah, was talking about the Aftershock X11 which has proven to be quite a feisty little performer these days.
