SMRT. Bought 1.515, cut loss 1.505. Wrong decision to buy, right decision to sell. 1st lesson in cutting loss when things aren't looking right.

if not include employee share buying option, i bought singtel at $3.25 and ausgroup at $0.19 in 2008. made quick profit on ausgroup, maybe at $0.22? have to check the price again but should be around there. had to hold singtel for some years before going back to orginal price. sold partially at $3.25 and then the rest at $3.40 ( had average abit along the way)

Telstra, in the T2 float right at the ding-dong high of the dotcom bubble in 2000. Paid somewhere north of eight bucks a share, sold them two years later at around $5. Whoops.

(Even 13 years after the T2 float, it's still only trading at $4 - but at least it's throwing off a 6% div yield, which it wasn't back then.)

Edit: since we're doing "what's your longest hold?" as well, I'm still long the 120 SPY I bought in the last week of February 2009... at $72-ish. Nailed it.

bank of america, $8.12. Then S&P downgrade happened, went down to $4. Held on, held tight, bought more at $6. Sold at $12.50.
