Some telco is pay more but expect less :s13::s13::s13:

Tried 3 biggest telco in singapore.

Singtel: always encounter bottleneck, steaming always fail. With miotv on. even worst. I heard now this problem is fixed. But do not dare to try. As their ONT+router not user friendly.

Starhub: Good downloads, but upload always suffering. youtube streaming takes very long.

M1: New to it. No comment. :s13:

White ONT is the same one as the Starhub and MyRepublic are using because there is a Nucleus Connect (NC) wording.

NC is the first Op-Co in the NGNBN who is a Starhub subsidiary and all ISP buys bandwidth from NC, including M1. (Did Singtel offer Fiber back then?)

However, eventually Singtel, ViewQwest and M1 also got their Op-Co license and hence M1 is not going to buy the bandwidth from NC anymore which is why they are pushing people to use their own black ONT.

To end user, White and Black ONT does not differ as both are capable for 1Gbps speed. However, as M1 is not going to buy more 1Gbps line from NC, they are going to "cap" the White ONT for the users of now defunct 100Mbps plan and charges some rental fee so as to encourage user to use the black one instead.

But then for those who are upgrading from 100Mbps or whatever to new 200Mbps, it is causing some trouble as Port 2 of the TP needs to be activated (And now it is not provisioned during the first day to install TP. Not sure if Port 2 is provisioned at the beginning or not.) and somehow is causing reports of unpleasant experience with delays etc for some.

opennet came down to activate my port 2 on 14th oct. which means it's activated lioa ?

do u mean that i can use my current white ONT with 2nd port activated now ?

You are new signup, m1 will give you black. They no longer issue the white ONT. Black has built in phoneline port. Installation should be a breeze for new signups. Setup for asus n56u also easy. Plug everything in place and follow the simple steps on the guide and you are gd to go. Just make sure you dun mess with the yellow fibre optic cable, dun bend it too much.

Hi guys

Just want to check with you, Opennet has just installed my TP point earlier on and signal tested was -15db.

M1 is coming down with the ONT appointment on Friday.

If everything goes smoothly, when will I be able to start using the fibre?

On the same day if no hiccup, also M1 installer will test on their netbook for Internet connectivity.

You should be able to use immediately once the installer wires up everything.

Thanks! They'll be here just to test the signal strength again and plug in the ONT right?

I think you have another schedule with M1 to your house and install the black ONT. On the very same day, they will collect the white ONT from you. So this period of time, you may try continue to use port 1 under White ONT and probably port 2 won't work for white ONT.

OpenNet matches your upcoming M1 Black ONT to port 2.

Not any man can match to a girl. Lol. :D
