So @ $23mil
Xi’an Scout Unlocked! The Khartu is the light attack craft of the Xi’An military. Contrary to Human ship design, the Khartu doesn’t have a traditional main thruster, instead featuring an array of maneuvering thrusters on articulated rigs. This design allows for incredible agility, making them the bane of UEE pilots, who bestowed the nickname ‘Quark’ because when all of the thrusters are firing, the ship looks like a spark flying through space. The Xi’an Aopoa corporation also manufactures an export model, the Khartu-al, for sale to human civilians as a dedicated scout/explorer. The export model features the same Xi’an maneuvering rig, but control surfaces modified for human use and a more limited armament. (Designer: Aopoa)

And as a reward for hitting $23mil to current backers:
As a special reward for those who have backed us to this point, you will be receiving a model of the Khartu to display in your hangar. It won’t be ready immediately, as we now have to concept the ship… but as always, we will be keeping you informed about that process!

@ $25mil
Enhanced Alpha – We will use additional funding to build a wider alpha test than we had originally intended for the first phase of Star Citizen’s launch. The initial plan was to first launch servers in North America and then expand to areas such as Europe and Australia to decrease latency in these areas, perfecting the game as we improve the experience around the world. This funding will allow us to invest in a wider infrastructure for our early testing, spinning up remote servers earlier. Hitting this goal will also allow us to increase the number of remaining alpha slots. Extra alpha slots not only means more Star Citizens will travel the ‘verse at launch, but that we will receive more feedback and more stress testing. This in turn will allow us to better balance and enhance the Star Citizen experience!

Is this a grinding game, especially for those who don't contribute to the "fund"? I'm currently playing Star Conflict via Steam.

this is not an RPG with 'levels' or 'skills' to unlock.

the only skill you bring to the game is your own - how well u can handle your ship and how well you mod your ships. and you have the freedom to do anything that is within the limits of the game. be a trader, an explorer, a bounty hunter, a pirate, a mercenary, a salvage expert - it is entirely your choice.

plus other than the initial package you pledge, everything else (including the additional pledge ships) can be earned in-game. additional ships are optional.

remember - pledging is to fund the game. the ships are the rewards. but having said that, the prices of the ships will go up at launch. and at launch the actual price of the game will most likely go up and may or may not even include a starter ship. you maybe either forced to play the Single player to earn enough to pay for your first ship, or crew on existing ships till you earn enough to get your own.

so being an early pledger, does have some reward in the long run if you're interested in the game.

I see, if cash-bought ships don't give distinct advantages then that's good. Do you need a full keyboard for this game? I'm using a tenkeyless keyboard, and I'm afraid some keys will be on the numpad like Freespace had.

well there is an additional advantage for ships bought now - Life Time Insurance.

as for the full keyboard question, no idea yet. but i'm sure u can reset the key binds.
on top of that, the game will allow you to play using game-console controllers and even full flight-sticks. again it is all your choice how you want to play.

from https://forums.robertsspaceindustri...-goal-orchestral-score-recording-scheduled/p1

Howdy folks!

I'm delighted to announce that on Friday next week (25th October), we are going to record some Star Citizen music with a 75-piece orchestra. It's the Capellen Orchestra located in the Czech Republic. The music they will perform has been composed by Pedro Macedo Camacho... same guy who brought you the current Launcher music, the 300i commercial music and the Aurora commercial music.

Obviously we will have lots more to tell you after the session, but I just wanted you to know where we're at with our plans to honour the commitment we made to you way back on November 10th 2012, during our overnight Star Citizen event, when your pledges totalled $6,000,000. Pedro, Chris and I have been planning this all year.

Here are a couple of videos of the orchestra in action, working on previous projects. While the music is not from our game, the videos were made with the exact same musicians, performance venue, microphones and conductor as we will use next week for Star Citizen. So you get an idea of the sound quality that can be achieved. Once again - this is NOT music from Star Citizen.

really hyped now because they scored the same orchestra that does work for Two Steps to Hell/Heaven :D

It will be cheaper than buying the game when it comes out, not to mention the alpha & beta access. Hoot 1st regret later rahs! :s13:

Anyways wow the amount of errors in the brochure is mind boggling, I wonder if they QA it before release. Did a quick look thro and found so many inconsistencies.
The stats & wording is constantly contradicting itself from one page to another.

Next gen aurora seems like the best starting package for now with 2 extra class 1 hardpoints that you cannot get with other auroras.(IF the brochure is to be trusted)

Just look for a veteran backer to get you the LTI version but make sure you buy something from your own account for backer status.
