So, should I get the LG G2 or Nexus 5?

I heard many good things about the LG G2 battery life too.
it's not just about the bigger capacity.. LG seems to have done some really amazing optimizations at the OS level to ensure optimal battery consumption.
(it's making me regret my Note 3 purchase a little)

and yes the KnockOn feature is really great. I am really curious how LG combines that with great battery life.

on the other hand, I can understand how you are tempted by the N5 (me too!) but since you waited for so long, why not wait awhile more for impressions and see how the development community goes with implementing the KnockOn gesture.. and perhaps more importantly whether the 2300mA battery works well (with it being developed by LG, I can't help but think the same battery optimizations of the LG G2 should be in the Nexus 5 too)

Also considering these 2... I'm a flash addict, and no doubt there will be more support for N5 ROMs. But on the other hand, I like the design of the G2 more plus the battery capacity :o

TS is smart and wants to make an informed decision, that is not base on some rumour mill leaks that can either be true or not true. :s22:

Actually everyone knows N5 is made by LG and would be a sibling to the G2, just like N4 & G1.

I now own a G2 after coming from Nexus 4.

Main reason not going for N5 was because of the battery life and the camera. And the warranty issue.

My old N4 digitizer had issues and it was few days before the warranty expired, but factoring shipping etc it would expire before reaching US. :s13:

The G2 has excellent battery life, 3000mah vs 2300mah N5. Although one might have a point as the N5 is running 4.4 which focuses in bringing lower end phones to latest version has well.

G2 is retailing for $680-$710 here in Singapore. The n5 cost $580 excluding shipping which would bring it slightly above $600.

So for $80 more u get a better camera, high battery capacity and local warranty support.

And that was how i made my decision choosing G2 over the N5. :s13:

have you rooted your phone? How's the availability of ROMs compared to the Nexus 4? Came from the Nexus 4 as well, really enjoyed the abundance of ROMs available to choose from.
leaning towards the G2 right now... Thanks to the quoted sentence :s13:
where can hoot 2nd hand ones ah?

2nd hand ones can get from hwz marketplace itself, i got mine for a steal at $500 (it's a steal 10/10 condition) just that no earpiece.

yes, i am also rooted (fairly easy since you had prior flashing experience). but i am running on tweak stock roms.

if you came from N4, you should know these roms, CM (dev support), Paranoid, Carbon and Slimbean, they are all available (ported) so the support is not much unless the dev officially supports it.

Otherwise there are tweaked stock roms too, got around 5-6 going on but because they are based on LG source, there is not much difference.

Frankly if the N5 had the same pricing as the N4, i would have gone for the N5, shipping etc $480~ compared to $680~ G2.

how did you search for the phone? Searching for wts LG g2 is too short, the term. Instead just shows me all the results for other phones.

thank you for helping me to make my decision, G2 it is! Can still sell it if I happen to dislike it.

IMO...in favour of G2 because:

- display
- battery
- price
- warranty
- strong custom rom support

Unfortunately, personally not for me as I am not into big size phones.

yeah... I hate big sized phones, and attempted to find a 4" high end Android phone, to no avail :s22: so just settle on whatever phone pleases me.

like you all i am waiting for a small, well not really small but not huge phones.
so we just wait for the Xperia Z1S (Z1 Mini).

Sony Xperia Z1S - Full phone specifications

if need big, i am on the premise its better 2 devices. the 7 inch tablet stays and waits at home for the bigger screen purposes. if needed bring out, can also, just tether to phone.

as for the topic, Nexus 5 it is. google got only 1.5 yrs commitment for updating nexus device.
i wonder how long G2 will last updated. its not samsung (or apple) for the matter.

price nexus 5 cheaper
display depends on you want to get bigger or not
custom rom support wise nexus 5 will definitely have a better support

Do you know what's the total cost of bringing a N5 that is local 4G compatible ? It is almost 650++

LG G2 is selling for just 700 in shops with local warranty.
The price difference is in my opinion is too low just for the sake of "stock android"

Besides, the hardware is so similar, any OS updates will be fairly easy to port to G2 via custom roms.

if you're not urgent to get a new phone, wait and see everybody's review first before making your decision? After all, its about 2-3 weeks before the N5 arrives in majority of our hands (those that imported)

Got the Nexus 5 but feeling buyers' remorse. Dunno if its real or fake from reading too many forum threads about Nexus 5 vs G2 but now very itchy to try G2 also even though I've had my Nexus 5 for less than 24 hours.

Those of you with the G2 - quick question, can you change the lock screen wallpaper and home screen wallpaper independently? For some reason I can figure out how to do that on the Nexus 5, so both my wallpapers are the same.
