Already booked my tickets for IMAX 3D. However, early reviews are not unanimously positive, with some criticising the sequel for its less-than-inventive script and being too "safe" and familiar. Well, looking at the polarising response to Iron Man 3, familiarity may not be a bad thing after all.

I didn't really like Thor 1 and I think the sequel isn't any better. :(

Very good comic-movie.

Story is decent (nothing pretentious), very comic-book-like with some humour that shows that it doesn't take itself seriously. The makers of this are clearly having fun, so are the actors and actresses, but with polished substance and style.

Darvel knows how to make comic-movies as well as comic books.:D

Just came home after watching to find out more about the post credit scene I saw. It turn out that there is a second one at the very end of the credit, which I missed! Damn.

:vijayadmin::vijayadmin:

I missed it as well. Only caught the middle one.

Overall, Thor 2 is quite good, enjoyed watching Natalie Portman :)

so is odin dead? how did loki survived

this question got many answer....

1 of reason is i think he faked his death at the dark world, then come back n impersonate the soldier and odin. odin may not be dead, coz that Heimdall would have known...

Thor 2: The Dark World entertains on a big budget effects spectacle level while keeping the lively tone of The Avengers and all the Marvel movies before it. Though it looks bigger in scale and is better than the original, it feels like an ordinary popcorn Summer effects film, often treading on familiar territory, very light and not as fulfilling as The Dark Knight Trilogy.

While Natalie Portman's Jane Foster and Rene Russo's Queen Frigga have more significant things to do this time, Thor's comrades-in-arm are relegated to third-tier characters, only appearing to help him at pivotal moments. Tom Hiddleston stole the limelight, again, as Oki, as he embodies that character with mischief and deviousness, and giving us a reason to empathize with him.

Marvel will continue to see succe$$ in Thor 2 as director Alan Taylor follows everything in the book on how to make a generic popcorn blockbuster, throwing at us bits of action, romance, effects, intrigue and even unnecessary characters to inject humour. However, it ultimately fails to connect with you in an emotional level and will be long gone from your mind as you step out of the movie theatre.

Anyone SIC the ending credits (youtube?) Especially for #2. I went out after #1. Cheespies :vijayadmin:

Two scenes are shown during the end credits:

1. Comes after the animated credits. Sif and Volstagg take Aether to the Collector (Benicio Del Toro), who is introduced to them by his aide (Ophelia Lovibond), who they trust to keep it safe.

2. Comes after the credits. Thor returns to Midgard, where he shares a passionate kiss with Jane Foster. We also see the monster, who was brought to Midgard during the portal battle, chasing a flock of birds.

Same formula, different characters (Spoilers alert)

Watched Thor 2 over the weekend.
My personal take is that superhero movies are done to death already.
The plot always the same, it's so stereotypical I can list it down in steps.

1. Ancient evil / old nemesis awaken threatens to destroy our hero's world

2. Villain finds, retrieves power of mass destruction. (Tessarac, Aether)

3. Hero goes through life changing episode (but it's more down to lazy writing to justify character development by writers). In Thor 1, he turns from spoilt brat to top contender for King. In Thor 2 he turns from King contender to lover boy. For Ironman, Stark turns from greedy weapon scientists to supero hero philanthropist. Cap. USA turns from geeky malnutrition patriot to super soldier patriot.

4. Villain inflicts heavy damage to hero (In Ironman 3, Stark's Malibu house was destroyed by helicopter attack, Stark's anxiety attack deepens. In Thor 2, Asgard was attacked by Alien fighters and killed his mother, Thor filled with revenge. In Avengers, The flying carrier was attacked and Agent Coulsen was KIAed).

5. Hero mourns, but finds inner strength to fight back. (In Thor 2, he enlists help of human scientists and Loki. Ironmen 2 & 3, Stark got help from Rhodes and little boy).

6. Hero brings fight to villain in EPIC showdown with lots of collateral damage.

7. Hero triumphs, saves the world again and gets girlfriend back.

It not only applies to Marvel heros but DC characters too. Same old recycled story applying to all the heros. Even the sound effect feels recycled. (Tell me the Dark Elf fighter sound effects are not the same as the alien crafts in Avengers!) Won't be surprised if Cap USA 2 has the same plotline. And quite frankly, even with all the fanciful effects, I'm getting bored.

Only notable achievements are Batman Begins and The Dark Knight which at least offered something original. No the 3rd one sucked for me.
