soundbar for newbie

Hi, newbie to sound system but for my new place, I intend to get a soundbar with built-in radio and dvd/ blueray. any recommendations? price range around 600.. or is it better to get a soundbar and a dvd player separately? appreciate any advice. thank you.

My post above on the philips soundbar HTB5150KD has all the features you mentioned. I have bought it from Courts recently when they offered it for only $489.

So far i like it very much...with only one problem: the blueray player cannot play Code 1 DVDs...much to my surprise (i thought these days no longer matter?) wheras a simple DVD player on my PC can play without issue. This is very frustrating. Other than that, it works wonderfully so far.

Just came back from Vivo Best Denki and saw 2 samsung HWF450 on display.
Features wise is pretty cool if you have samsung tv with soundshare function, no need to connect any cables to the TV.
Size wise is not the slimmest but is slimmer compared to LG models of similar price.

Sound wise they were playing some demo shows and i played around with the volume as you might expect better than stock TV speakers but other than that nothing to shout about.. for $399 i'm still considering whether to get it.. so i left w/o buying.

just buy it. im using and connected to my tv via soundshare. all wireless and design quite sleek as well. only thing is the SQ which i dun really can hear any difference.., just.need something to to replace stock tv speakers.

now price dropped to $319 last saw at ms gain city.

If your budget is $1000, top up another $300 to get the YSP 2200. No regrets.

JBL SB-400. but not sure any change in pricing, last heard was 850+/-. Ysp 2200 is old model, but worth it if you have the budget. for ysp, room configuration plays a part in performance comparing what you heard in stores.

most setup in major stores, yammy setup got certain advantage since it is in a room and JBL set in open space.

I bought the LG NB3530A soundbar last week at Vivocity BD.
The sound quality is not bad. Don't expect it to be theater grade.
