My own solo Tokyo experience

Great thread!

I jus went Tokyo alone for 10 days this August.

Covered most of Tokyo, many shrines and gyoen.

Sightseeing
Memorable parts are climbing to summit of Mount Fuji, staying in capsule hotel and people watch. Imperial Palace areas, Yashukuni shrine, Tokyo dome city, Shuinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku,Yebisu garden place, Asasuka, Ikebukuro, Uneo park, Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Odaiba are some places that are nice to go in Tokyo.

Language
I don't know any Jap (other than konichiwa and arigatou gozaimas) but survived well due to the extreme helpfulness and politeness of most Jap people :) I rem a Jap uncle who walked with me for 30 min to find my capsule hotel in Shinjuku. In fact the rude people I've met there are the ah tiong tourists :(

Food
Food (Ramen!) there is nice and cheap. I ate mostly at those small shops kind where I pay using the vending machine. I rem below SG$6 can get a full meal, because most of them comes with free flow of ice water and portion is big.

Hotel
I stayed in mostly cheap 3 stars hotels near train stations. Room is small, but clean and functional. The toilet is good, most will come with high tech bidget toilet bowl, nice bath tub and shower that is easy to control the temp.

In short, Tokyo is a great place to go.

Normally, i will just use google map.

It will guide you which time and which route to take

Japan trains run by timetable so it is pretty easy for me

navigate osaka station trying to get to our hotel at umeda is :s22: their tourist info counter r very friendly though

Bump for threadstarter nice FR review thread. Saw quite a few pics of Akiba's SofMap building and AKB Cafe, even though I have never been to the AKB Cafe before for myself, but it's definitely one of the places I would like to visit next time for sure.
:o

SofMap and Yodobashi-Akiba are great places for shopping especially if u're a tech-enthusiast or just wanna shop for the regular idol gravure/ahem ahem DVD/Blu-rays, it's considered a heaven for someone like me.
:s34::s34:

What was the cheapest lunch/dinner meal you had ard Tokyo area? Just curious to know so at least if the food was considered decent, I can note down the location and include into my future travel itinerary.

Oh and I see u're a fan of Hanzawa Naoki as well. :s13: Actually nowadays wanna shop for original/genuine j-drama merchandises no need so mafan to travel all the way to JP just to purchase them, can do it via their online e-shop easily. (of course have to rely on someone living there or a proxy forwarder if you have no contacts there)
