Have you tried any particular tailors in JB? How is the workmanship and material? Price range?

The traditional tailoring and fashion hub of Malaysia is in KL. Wait till the high speed rail is done, gonna put price pressure on our local tailors.

Then I will be going KL over the weekends for so much food my waistline can't maintain in my pants.

Petaling jaya got 1 bespoke tailor

yeah, tried before. Price range is about RM150 for a pair of normal dress pants (material from italy) and also about that price for business shirts. Material from japan would be cheaper but not recommended by the jb tailor. Workmanship is okay but my experiences are that try to avoid this time of the year as usually they have to rush a lot of orders before the cny.

I worry for those going into msia after they link it up with spore. Too many robbers and criminals in there u got to be really extra alert. NO jokes. I think its a big mistake for sg to agree to it but somehow it should most likely for economy reasons again. But will create more social problems for sg. There are just too many hungry outcasts in msia who will hunt for singaporean preys when given the opportunities. Gd luck.

I think your statement not fair to Malaysians. Lots of Singaporeans go into Malaysian everyday, the criminals don't target by race or nationality but opportunity. Social problem wise every country have their own so no need to criticise others.

Back to topic for the price range 150 RM they can give you Italian fabrics a bit imposible. Ignore the selvage, you will be lucky if you get pure cotton for shirts and a good wool blend for pants. Not saying not good but for the trouble of crossin the causeway, I would seek a bespoke service rather than a budget tailor who probably outsource to Indian immigrant tailor.

Malaysia do have an import tax for fabrics. And vice versa. I was slapped with GST because the cloth supplier forget and declared full value which was less than $400. courier service charge a hefty admin charge for paying a few tax dollars on my behalf.

Very big difference in quality.

TGT works aren't really bespoke.

haha put it more bluntly. TGT are just two guys taking your measurements and sending it to some overseas seamstress (I highly suspect bkk).

I can find visible bubble like creases to my TGT shirt collar after 2-3 washes.

They are however a friendly bunch who seem very keen on improving their business. I would return for their casual berms aka golf shorts despite them being overpriced.

Seems from the last hundred pages KBKS and Dylan seems to be all the hype recently. Now a days nobody support the good ol tailors anymore? Looks like those old tailors should start employing young chaps wear slim fit and trendy frames to start attracting customers :D

i have been recommending good old sze sze tailor for cheap $300 entry level suits.

Most of the local tailors outsource to a factory either locally or overseas. From the budget range to all the way very expensive tailors.

Tailors with an in house cutter or at least locally based cutter will be able to do multiple fitting in short interval, sometimes even the cutter present during the fittings.

With technology and transportation so advanced nowdays. Tailors can use digital camera and snap fitting photos and DHL the fitting garments back and fro overseas to adjust the fit. Can be outsource to cheaper production or to a higher skilled facility.

My ideal tailor is a bespoke service that minimum have their own in house cutter. Communication and Fit is the most important. Workmanship as long is good, doesn't matter if the tailor outsource to anywhere in the world.

I don't think the bundle deal (3 shirts for $600) entitles any further additional discount.

It's best to call to check first.

Go to JB holiday plaza. There are many tailors there. Value for $

Would like to do it locally. Looking at Sze Sze and Men's Tradition now. Which would be better for a suit? Fit is still my priority as I wouldn't be wearing it often except for special occasions or school purposes.

Anyway, today's Urban featured Berluti on their bespoke suits. $7k euros I think or $12k SGD. Anybody with the spare cash can try them out. Wonder in designer labels speak, Zegna or Berluti?

I've done an odd jacket, a few shirts and trousers with KBKS, so far the end products are always excellent. And because of their slightly younger age/style, it fits me better. I usually request it to be more contemporary. So i'll recommend them if you can allow a higher budget! If not tessuti's great too.

I think the important thing is, whichever tailor you go to, you must know what you want and don't be afraid to voice out. Communication is the key. :)
