nothing in that photo. i just came out of the salon after perm, is the stylist use hair dryer to create volume. didn't want any product on my head since not going to be able to wash hair for a day.

I create volume with OS sea salt spray first, then blow dry hair, then apply a little bit by bit of Uppercut Feather Light pomade (waxy type not the oily type) from the both sides sweeping left and right motion.

I tried using clay products but those will rake away many strands of hair, seems like the beeswax based pomade is more gentle on my hair and easier to wash away.

To get volume in front, I do not to apply directly to the front fringe but from the sides then sweep towards the front fringe. A barber told me if the front is too heavy with product it will collapse under its own weight.

hmmm whats a good pomade to use if hair is fine, scalp is greasy ah?

What type of styles you would like to achieve. Pomade more for comb over or pompadour styles. Varying degree of shine. You can try using boar bristle brush to spread your scalp oil on hair. Good natural conditioner.

pomade need skill to use and you need super long hair.
pompadour, for asian, try silver fox by vilain.

extreme hold with shine. haha i think the pompadour will look better.

because pomade is considered wet product, need time to dry also.

Tim Ho Wan is not that famous in HK actually. Their signature dish is the cha siew bun. That one is a must try. Its the only thing that is almost of the same standard as Tim Ho Wan HK. Can just skip the other dishes as they are just too expensive. Its almost double or more the price as compared to HK.

Just tried today at Ps outlet ...it's just overhyped ...variety is not alot to start with also . Char Siew Bao was not bad though .

pomade are more suitable for the Mad Men hairstyles

there are various types of pomades. generally the oily type is higher shine and harder to wash away, but the hold is no horse run. the waxy type is dryer and easier to wash away at the expense of not so strong hold.

if you hair is light you have to apply little bit by little bit. use a hairspray to finalise the style.

you have to trial and error a bit to get the styling technique correct. see youtube got various ways to use various hair products.
