A Good Vet is One who knows how to be friendly with pets and can recognize their Disease only by looking at them .
i guess the definition will depend greatly on what you are dealing with
i used to bring my girl to her regular vet
normal condition - no problem, very good vet
however, when my girl went into crisis because of her kidney disease, i find that my regular vet is really not well-versed in this
in the end, i'm now onto my third vet, and still not sure if i should continue my search for a fourth (maybe fifth or sixth) vet who KNOW about feline kidney disease
so maybe TS want to share what exactly you are looking for so that others can contribute their experience...
i'm looking for a feline chronic kidney disease specialist (or at least someone who knows exactly what we are dealing with)What exactly are u looking for?
i'm looking for a feline chronic kidney disease specialist (or at least someone who knows exactly what we are dealing with)
on a side note, i'm also looking for a veterinary dental specialist
any recommendation?
actually there's a lot of things that can be done for CRFNo such thing as a registered specialist in veterinary dentistry or feline internal medicine in Singapore.
CRF, nothing much u can do except increase water intake, regulate dietary protein and phosphorus, avoid nephrotoxic drugs, calcitrol and EPO supplements, etc. Best speak with your vet to see how bad the CRF is at first. Nothing short of renal transplant can help it but even that is a tough one
Also why you need so tok kong dental experts for your pet? Are you looking to do root canal treatment or dental implants?
in case you are wondering, my girl is seeing three vets (cause none can do everything)
one for her anaemia, one for her blood pressure and one for ultrasound (the ONLY specialist in singapore)
it adds to her stress because it's new people and place every time![]()
actually there's a lot of things that can be done for CRF
these things defines whether the cat survives days, months or years after diagnosis...
CRF causes hypertension and anaemia, both which are fatal if left untreated
the 'in-thing' now for CRF is actually stem cell treatment as renal transplant is considered unethical...
i'm looking at a dental specialist because of my girl's chronic rhinitis
i want to rule out the possibility of her root poking into her sinus that is causing it (at least two human i know have this problem)
i also want to rule out FORL as she is not eating (she has not been eating on her own for coming to four months)
i think i'll start another thread for thisSure u can do a lot of things but all is palliative, baring renal transplant there really is no cure for CRD just do things to make patient comfortable until the end comes. Debatable as to how good stem cell therapy is and what is the efficacy, it doescost a lot of money
With FORL it's often very painful and affected gum is swollen and inflamed. Has your vet refer ur cat for CT scan of the nasal passage ?

i went to aarv tampines, pet doctors at pandan valley and arvc in serangoon.which clinics u went~?
